This is a train wreck. In the last few hours the Yankees, Cardinals, Angels and Dodgers have emerged as the mystery team. Heck why not throw the White Sox and Mets in there too?

I really would have preferred it be the Yankees over the Dodgers. With Friedman there Lester really has no red flags staring him in the face, and they can offer something like 7/175 without a second thought.

Rosenthal said Jon Lester and James Shields are two other players the club is believed to have checked in on. Their ability to sign any of the big free agents could be dependent on their ability to deal Matt Kemp and his prohibitive contract. Scherzer has also generated interest from the Giants, Nationals and Tigers.
