Week 5: Bears (2-2) @ Panthers (2-2) Noon Fox/780

Until further notice the biggest choker in the NFL title has been transferred from the Manning brothers to Cutler.

Ha, they have three titles and Eli played like a stud when it counted in the playoffs

Last year he was perhaps the worst QB in the league. Clutch years ago, lately however is a different story.

Eli looks better this year. Still, two titles. You can't forget those. Both Mannings could be hall of famers.

Quit trying to argue something that wasn't being said. Join the present. That is what was talked about. Last year Eli was the biggest choker, before that Peyton was always thought as it. Now it is Cutler.

I've turned on Cutler. He's been stupid for awhile now. Trestman is lost on Defense and ST. If the D/ST isn't fixed by next year it's time to coach shop

We're giving these coaches another year? Oh good guess I can take the Bears out of my life.

and umfan still thinks the bears make more mistakes than anyone even though they were one of the least penalized teams in the league last year and are pretty middle of the pack this year last i checked.

today was a nightmare but like half of those were horrendous calls. same goes for the GB game.

more to dumb mistakes than penalties. like taking the kick off from 8 yards into the end zone repeatedly, like running into the returner before he catches the ball, like one of your safeties thinking you are in zone coverage on the single biggest play of the season on jailhouse blitz, like giving up on plays before they are over, etc.

In your original post, you didn't say you were talking about just last year. It was vague.

Fail to see how Cutler can be called a choker after this. Are Matt Forte and Robbie Gould chokers too? Their mistakes were just as big as Jay's.

You give Trestman another year. What you do is fire Tucker and Joe D and get an upgrade at those spots. Spend more $$/draft more defensive players and see how it goes next season. If they don't improve, Trestman is gone.

like i said before, though...we have a bunch of idiots at the bottom of the roster who are doing stupid [expletive] trying to gamble their way into cementing a roster spot.

we also have a lot of turnover at the bottom of the roster and a shitty ST coach. how do the other teams who do that like seattle and NE avoid having idiots do dumb things when they are constantly bringing in new idiots too?

Well Tucker and Joe D should have been gone after last year's debacle. Giving them another year was the nail in this season.

True, but how often do you fire a DC or even a ST coach after 1 season? Lets not use Raiders or Browns as an example here. LOL

can we stay within a game of .500 through the @GB game?

OK so we hired the wrong defensive and special teams coaches. We can't afford non-idiots at the bottom of the roster so they keep making dumb mistakes to cost us....and why can't we afford them? Because we've invested a [expletive] in our offense who currently is performing slightly above average. That was supposed to be the thing that would allows us to win when everything else was failing, and instead we are getting 20-25 points a game from them. Which would be awesome in 2005 but not good enough for this team. If we're going to invest a lot more in offense because our coach is an offensive mastermind, I need to see more results.

He's not a choker, but he's inconsistent. Can Jay win 4 playoff games in a row? I can't see it.

Cutler is getting jumpy with his mechanics again, he didn't look confident with his offensive line. Carolina adjusted to stopping Forte as their focal point by keeping their best player shadowing Forte. It was the perfect time to open up the middle of the field with Bennett but they cont'd to play outside the hashes.

The defensive line played better but still not good enough. If you're going to stick to zone coverage, have a Mike that covers the middle.

Maybe. I really don't know what to expect from this team. 3 of those 4 games are winnable but with this team I don't think any game would be considered an easy win. Would need to go 2-2 in those 4 games.

If we do that, I would be ecstatic because I could see the Bears going 5-2 in the last 7 games, giving us an outside shot at a playoff spot.

why are you only counting this year's points then?

the injuries are not a non-factor, and the fact that guys have played through them doesn't handwave that away.

dallas game looks much harder than it used to. not sure what to think about the 2 detroit games, but the minnesota games look like gimmes at least.

Sounds like the Bears are going to fall just short of the playoffs and everyone will keep their jobs to me. Football Hell.

Trestman blows he absolutely should have never been hired. Everything about this team sucks except for the offense which is merely 'ok'. We have 65mln of salary on offense and 45mln on defense. I dont get how anybody could like trestman.

The previous coaches all lost their jobs after a 10 win season. This team wont win 10 games. Somebody explain to me why we needed to make changes two years ago but not now.

I'm not. I mentioned that and injuries on the OP. maybe I should give them more of a slack bc of the injures though. As you said even though the skill players have started every game Jeffery and Marshall have both been less than 100% and it's showed.

Because it was clear after 9 seasons that Lovie was never going to coach a competent offense and Emery looked at the league as evolving to an offensive heavy league and wanted to keep up.

If your offense only works when all your receivers are 100% healthy than you dont have a good offense. Marshall practiced all week and was declared to be healthy by this coaching staff. Trestman is the head coach. If Marshall is so obviously not healthy to those watching tv either (i) the tv watchers are wrong and he is healthy or (ii) trestman is a clown for continuing to play an ineffective and injured player.
