Penn State's schedule is insanely soft from here on out. Last two non-cons are UMass and Temple, and their two games against the West are Northwestern and Illinois. UM, MSU and OSU are the biggest challenges remaining, though I could see them losing to Maryland

Meanwhile my team has to play four Top 10 teams in a five week span.

that's because everyone in the SEC is given a top 10 ranking by virtue of being an SEC team.

Certainly.

The league will likely cannibalize itself to such an extent this year that a 2 loss team will win the SEC. When that occurs they might be on the outside of the playoff, which will then force Mike Slive to lose his isht and they'll expand (and rightfully so) the playoff to 8 teams.

Can y'all imagine the obnoxious debate that is going to occur about who is the 4th team in? I think we can all rest easy knowing that FSU, OU, and Oregon will win their crappy conferences, but what about number four? Good lord that's gonna be some obnoxious debate for the talking heads.

Alabama, LSU and Auburn are going to be difficult to argue against being top 10 teams. TAMU demolished a top 10 team to get to where they are, but it's a legit argument that they jumped too high too fast.

Though OMC isn't quite right - Ole Miss gets 2 straight top 10 teams, Tennessee, and then 2 straight top 10 teams.

Yes. That's what I said. Four Top 10 teams in a FIVE week span.

Anytime you start talking about resting easy knowing something in CFB, it gets turned on its head. I'd bet a hefty chunk of change that at least one of those three, and probably more, doesn't win their league.

Oops, I should have reread that. For some reason I had it stuck in my mind you said four top 10 teams in a row.

Exactly. FSU already almost lost and could honestly get stunned by Clemson on Saturday. Oregon very easily might lose toward the end of the year (as they often do). Hell Arizona could beat them. Oklahoma has two consecutive trap away games this week and next week. They close with ok st. Anything can happen with those three teams. If almost bet they won't be 1,2, and 3 the second week I October.

As for the SEC west, it's basically insane that Arkansas is the 6th best team in a division. And LSU will lose plenty of games this year. One interesting game will be auburn k state this year. A nice test of auburn in te little apple against a good football team. A game I think could easily go KSUs way. That will be an intense environment

BYU scares me. They have a decent chance at an unbeaten season and them taking a playoff spot would absolutely suck. But I will promise you that they will get one if they go undeafeated. A one-loss ND will also get in. And to be honest I think they can get through the schedule with one loss. This will probably get blown up by November but my guess for the 4 playoff teams is:

BYU

Notre Dame

Georgia

Oklahoma

What is "plenty" in your view? They play 4 ranked teams the rest of the year (Auburn, Alabama, Ole Miss, TAMU) and, while I wasn't terribly impressed by their Wisconsin game, I have trouble seeing them lose more than 2 of those.

I guess 2 could be considered plenty, but I think they'll likely get better as the season goes along and three of their toughest games are in the final 4 weeks.

Between @aub, @fla, ole miss, Bama, @ark, @tamu I think they lose 3 and could potentially lose 4. Wisconsin should have beaten them at home with a third stringer under center.

BYU shouldn't get in unless every other team has at least two losses. They're not going to play a single ranked team all year.

That's certainly possible, but I wouldn't say it's very likely that they drop 3 and certainly 4.

Florida just looked awful trying to beat a likley .500 or (more likely) below Kentucky team and Arkansas has beaten Nicholls State and a Texas Tech team that barely beat Central Arkansas (42-35) and UTEP (30-26). If either of them beat LSU - even assuming the worst of the Tigers - it'd be a major upset. That would leave 3 losses out of 4 games and, like I said, 2 is a much more likely scenario than 3.

I don't think we are disagreeing too much. I will say MSST is only +10 at LSU this week. So the oddsmakers are not terribly high on LSU at this point in the season.

Not a huge disagreement, I agree. I just don't think it's nearly as likely as you're implying that they lose more than 2.

I think the SEC West winner will have 2 losses this year.

Very possible, but I kinda doubt it. Nothing to back it up, I just feel like somebody will pull away from the pack and be at 0-1 losses.

A&M still has plenty of concerns with the defense and injuries have made it even worse. Hopefully we can get healthy in the next couple weeks before the schedule gets pretty tough. The offense can win a lot of games with just an average defense. I don't expect us to make the playoff but we may knock a team or two out of the picture as well. I think our best shot at a championship will probably be 2016 after we get some more 4 & 5 stars on the defensive side of the ball.

What in thee hell was that?

http://deadspin.com/arkansas-state-player-pretends-to-die-on-fake-punt-for-1635255859

First, it was designed, not improvised. Arkansas State coach Blake Anderson said the Red Wolves practiced the play all week, and Mays got more and more convincing with his collapse as the week went on. Second, it was not only designed, but inspired. Anderson was on the North Carolina staff last year when the team decided to pull a prank on quarterback Bryn Renner. That prank, known as the "Fainting Goat," in which all 22 players except Renner collapsed immediately after a snap during practice, has commanded more than a million hits on youtube.com. So here is the story of Saturday's adaptation:

"Because of the formation we were in for that fake punt, Booker was covered up and couldn't go downfield, or it would be a penalty," Anderson told College Football 24/7. "So we said, 'What do we want to do with him? Do we want to bubble him or peel him out?' Someone said let's just let him be a fainting goat. I loved it, so we just put that in. His job on that play was basically to not get a penalty by going downfield, because the fake was on the backside of the play. These kids have had five head coaches in five years, so we try to let them have fun."
