Thanks for the interpretation seems real dumb, kids these days seem to have a problem using real words.

LOL #-o ... I just now noticed that. I've been reading several articles last night on prospects that it had the word "specs" in quite a few of them. My bad.

Alvarez? Rasmus?

we might really have the most easily exploited 'good' lineup ever if we heavily pursue these avenues

Yeah, odd considering the FO. Our future lineup is looking more and more like an Orioles batting order, but even younger and faster. It also why Russell could be such an important part of the order if he is what we think he'll be. His swing and approach seem to be less slump prone.

No way Phillies do that deal. Hamels is expensive but they aren't going to give him away for a package like that. Amaro is too bullheaded to settle for a package like that.

With Justin Upton and Heyward eligible for free agency after the 2015 season, [...] there’s a chance that at least one or two of them could be moved this offseason.

http://atlantabraves.blog.ajc.com/2014/10/20/braves-outfield-who-stays-among-uptons-heyward/

Heyward? back the prospect truck up

I'd trade Baez for either one of those guys. Hopefully something more around Almora and Alcantara+ would work.

For one year of either of them? (plus the QO pick)

I don't really see much of a match there in general(maybe if Upton could fake it in CF), but especially not without an extension worked out ahead of time.

Well, yeah I'd make it contingent on an extension. Heyward should be the primary target. I'd do Baez+Almora for him if that's what it took.

Flip a coin with those two. They're both awesome. I'd prefer Upton though. Better offensive pedigree, and he'd play a position of need vs. RF where we have Soler. Obviously you can move guys around to accommodate, but I think I'd rather have an OF of Upton/Alcantara/Soler vs. Heyward/Alcantara/Soler (presuming one of those guys isn't moved in a deal for them).

But I'd rather give up the farm for Stanton, if possible

Agreed, I'd be fine with either. I like that Heyward is a bit younger and could play CF. Also He's left-handed, walks slightly more and strikes out less, and probably has some growth/upside left. I think his profile fits a little better into what the FO is trying to build with the offense.

But like I said I'd be fine with either and they likely won't cost us any of Soler/Russell/Bryant/Castro like Stanton would. Probably more something out of a combination of Baez/Almora/Alcantara/Edwards/Pierce/McKinney, which I prefer.

Rather not trade core pieces for a 1 year rental, seems counter productive toward the big picture.

They can be extended and both are on the right side of 30

I don't really see a reason why either would accept an extension. Both have made good money in the game already(Heyward upwards of 20M, Upton over 60M after this year), both will still be prime age for FA after this year, and neither is coming off some peak that they would want to capitalize on.

I mean sure, but if you offer a slightly above market deal to them I think it could get done. From a team who has said they are planning on spending/acquiring the right guys I think they could get it done. Do you think Heyward says no to something like 7/140-150 (basically the Carl Crawford contract except he's 5 years younger at the time of signing)?

Yeah, at this point, they can smell the open market.

For guys who are both as good as they are and as financially secure as they already are, I think you'd have to really blow away their expectations to get them to sign before now. They're already set for life and the odds of them not getting a huge contract of some number are basically the odds that they suffer a terrible injury, and when you add in the competitor's mindset of betting on yourself, I just don't see it happening unless you go full Ryan Howard and offer him something stupid like 6/200. There's a reason we see 'trade with extension' happen so rarely(has it happened at all in the last few years/this CBA?).

You rarely ever see a sign and trade or players traded sign contracts shortly after in the mlb, can't remember that last time I saw that happen

Everyone the Cardinals trade for.

The most recent of those deals(I assume you're referring to Rolen/Holliday) was over 5 years ago and the trade did not come with an extension included. Holliday hit free agency and didn't re-up until January.
