Considering going to the game on Thursday afternoon against the Rockies. I have a few questions about sitting in the bleachers as I've never sat out there for a game. I'm hoping some of you can shed some light/give assistance. Thanks in advance!! :-)

-I was thinking there should be plenty of tickets available for the game since it's two bad teams and not really a "must see" game so I was gonna just walk up to buy bleacher tickets. That should save me the processing fees, etc. online. Any issues there??

-I was thinking about arriving to the ticket window around 10:30A since the gates should open at 11:15A.

-I'd like to sit in LF, possibly near the basket/front row. Am I getting to the park soon enough? Should I expect a tremendously long line to get in? Again, I don't see the game being a sellout (or even close) so I was thinking that should be plenty of time to wait.

-I know back in the day, various nefarious activities were said to go on in the bleachers. Has this changed? I'm considering taking a teenager (young) to the game but don't want to have that be an issue. Thoughts? Am I making a mistake?

Any information/advice you can share would be greatly appreciated. Like I said, I've never watched a game from the bleachers and would really like to. With this not necessarily being the most attractive game, i thought things might be okay, but I could be wrong.

Thanks again!! :good:

Might be able to save a few bucks from a ticket vendor on Addison vs box office or stubhub tomorrow night. I think you'll be safe at 1045 for your seats. Depends on what you mean by nefarious. Language might be a big rough.

Language isn't really an issue at all....unless it got completely out of control. But I don't see that being the case. Thanks for the info.

Where is the ticket vendor on Addison, unless you mean a fan(scalper) selling tickets?? Also, I can't get to the ballpark tomorrow night to get tix in advance. Have to wait until gameday

No one is going to be doing lines of coke or having sex in the bleachers if that's what your worried about. There's an occasional fight but highly unlikely on a weekday afternoon. Mostly just some language and possibly NSF kids heckling at the opposing OFers.

For some reason, I find that sentence really funny!

On a Thursday afternoon game, vs. the Rox, when the Cubs are terrible........you could literally walk into the park at 1:15 and choose any bleacher seat you'd like for the most part. The further down the line you move the more open space you will have.

Also, the first row sucks. The first row is recessed relative to the outfield wall, so your view can be partially blocked if you're shorter. Even if you're not, it can be annoying. For this reason, I always prefer to sit in the second row.

You can get a sense for what I'm talking about in the below:

Thanks for all the tips everyone. I'm headed up North now via car and then Red Line. Will try to get the second row in left field near the well. Hope the game isn't sold out when I get to the ticket window!! :D

Well, for people who can appreciate fun at least.

Top row is my favorite for the bleachers. I'm too damn tall to be wedged in between other people, so I like to stand. You get the breeze too.

Ended up being great!! Second row in LF, about 10-12 feet to the CF side of the well. Lots of room and LOTS of kids. Other than the one drug deal, the two drunk brawls and the stabbing, the Bleachers were pretty fan friendly for a day game. Oh, and that one boob.....she only has ONE BOOB. Not what I was expecting! :D

Thanks again everyone for the tips. My first experience in the Bleachers was a good one. And they're undefeated when I sit out there!! :good:
