Wladimir Galindo upped his line to .299/.371/.545 with a 2-for-5 day. He hit his league leading 18th double and also leads the VSL in HRs with 7 as a 17 year old. He is 2nd in OPS, 8 points off the league leader who is 3 years older. He Ks a bit, striking out in 23% of his PAs, but also walks about 8% of the time.

Black 6K/0BB

Underwood 8K/0BB

niiiiiice. Underwood is quickly becoming one of my favorite pitching prospects.

EDIT: And I didn't even realize Underwood doesn't turn 20 for another 9 days. I thought he was a bit older.

Corey Black with no walks thru 7. Only 23 of his 84 pitches out of the zone. Given up a pair of runs, but may be his best start of the year considering its the first time he hasn't walked anyone and he tied a season high with 8 Ks.

Edit. His longest outing of the year also.

Soler flies out "sharply" to the wall in center. Javy had a two RBI double to the wall in center.

Only a 1 RBI double. Had an RBI groundout in the first.

Javy just struck out for the 110th time this year...to 28 walks.

I'm scared. Hold me.

I can live with Alcantara and Soler and Bryant

better trade Baez before he reaches his 150th strikeout.

Carson Sands made his pro debut and pitched a clean inning, 2 strikeouts.

One of those strikeouts being Alex Jackson.

Since 6/11 (1 month, 31 games), 50% of those walks have come in the last month. He had 9 games before 6/11 where he had zero strikeouts (53 games). Since then he's had 8 games with zero K's.

It's not great by any means, but it does show progress which is what we want from Javy. He's still ridiculously young, so if he keeps up the trend things will be looking up for him next year.

Emilio Bonifacio went 3/4 with a K for Mesa on the rehab trail.

Didn't realize this till just now but Pedro Araujo was promoted a few weeks ago from the DSL to the AZL. You rarely see a midseason promotion from the DSL or VSL to the US, which should say something about his prospect status (and he has good stats too).

I saw Jake Hannemann play on Thursday at the Quad Cities. The dude can fly. He has got to be the fastest player in the Cubs system. He is a player to keep in mind.

With all due respect to Hendricks, Black may be the first of the pitching prospects to stick in the majors. I still think he's a starter. And I think he could be at the back end of the rotation by this time next year. He'll reach the majors before Edwards and Johnson. Really shooting up my rankings if he can keep his control under control.

Just out of curiosity, why don't you expect Hendricks to stick in the majors? Saying that you don't expect him to be anything more then a back end guy or long reliever is one thing, but saying you don't expect him to stick in the majors is quite a statement.
