Damnit... I'm supposed to be moving to San Diego at the end of the month, but Iowa is going to be in New Orleans at the end of July and Tennessee will be in Mobile the first week of August. I may need to come up with an excuse to stick around an extra week.

I am absolutely going to all 5 games games at NO Zephyr Field. It's the first few days of my vacation.

First time in the history of mankind someone has cursed moving from the Deep South to San Diego in the heart of summer. Your Cub fandom is strong.

I take it you have no kids? I go to a game and watch maybe two innings.

Holy cow, I knew there was a reason I hadn't checked a Smokies box score since Bryant left. You certainly wouldn't know we have the #1 ranked system looking at that lineup.

Hahahaha. Don't get me wrong I'm excited about the move, but recent Cubs related events make this a real problem for me, lol

What's going to be more annoying him not being called up after abusing AAA for half a year, or him being sent back to Iowa after hitting like .600 in Spring Training?

I couldn't realistically expect a prospect to play any better than Bryant has. Yeah, a lower K% would be nice, but for Christ sake the guy has been a .351 hitter in the minors with a 1.142 OPS, while playing at every level of MiLB. That's stupid. Just for kicks, can anybody find any current star big leaguers that have that kind of minor league OPS?

I'm not saying... I'm just saying.

Sometimes I wonder if Bryant was a putting up a sub 20% K rate rather than an elite prospect, would we be talking about him like a generational talent?

i typed a bunch of names into baseball reference and didn't come up with much.

that said, it's important to remember that, as putting up crazy minor league numbers goes, bryant really does have all the best of it. this is in no way meant to discount his prospect status or anything, but a lot of guys who go on to become big-time hitters are ONE playing professionally before they are 21 and TWO not held down in the minors to maximize pre-free agency value.

Like Rizzo?

Basically. As far as the bat goes, that comp looks really strong to me as far as being same age at Iowa and doing the same things.

Rizzo is strikeoutier but also had a lot less pro experience including no previous stint at AAA.
