FWIW, seems like outsiders love it for us.

Some Dodgers blogger I follow was lamenting that they probably shouldn't even bother trading for Price now.

I believe they use the rest of this year to ensure another top five pick, while setting up next year for the first big wave, while seeing what they have in beeler, wada, if arrieta is legit, and if bosio can really do something with straily, while wood works out some kinks, with a bevy of decent to above average arms to use samardzija money on this offseason.

I love Russell as much as the next guy, but I really, really hope there's more coming than just those three.

I'm OK with it. You don't get super-elite prospects without some real pain in what you give back.

And lol still no top-flight pitchers.

what is the deal with russell's health?

From the middle of June:

Addison Russell's rehab from a torn right hamstring has been moved from High-A Stockton to Double-A Midland.

Russell started the season well, but tore his hamstring and missed two months. He is back in the Texas League, and will look to make up for lost time. Russell still has an outside chance to reach the major leagues by the end of the season, but will likely be in line to make his major league debut in early 2015. Jun 16 - 7:46 AM

Seriously, getting arguably the best position prospect in baseball is by itself a great haul.

we already have him, and his name is kris bryant.

I'm guessing, if true our Alcantara is on his way to Chicago soon if not now. There's no room for Russell at Iowa. I suppose Javy could get demoted.

from what i've been able to dig up on McKinney, I quite like him

Yeah, I have never seen him play, but I have to admit I got excited by the stuff I could find and the fact that I really, really wanted an outfielder in whatever pitcher trade we made.

he and soler can be best buds

Seems like a good move for both teams. A's going to be very tough in the playoffs and they can recoup a decent percentage of what they lost by dealing Samardzjia later.

Russell just barely started AA and he's 20.

He just got to AA, he'll almost assuredly go to Tenn.

I'd imagine the cubs want to see Russell with more power at AA before sending him to Iowa. He only has one homerun since injury.

Isn't Russell still in AA? He'd go to TN first I'd think.
