rivero gave up a game-tying home run in the 9th. tennessee has impressively scored one run in 9 innings while leaving 15 runners on base.

i'm trying to think how most people would rank bryant if they had to do a top 5 of all minor league prospects. buxton has been hurt most of this year but would probably still be on top. taveras has been very good at memphis and probably would still be ahead. i would guess that a lot of people would now put bryant above baez. bogaerts has graduated, sano is out for the year, archie bradley has been lousy and has an elbow strain, addison russell tore his hamstring, and lindor has been typical lindor - very solid numbers at a high level for his age. maybe jonathan gray and gregory polanco could also be in the discussion of prospects ranked ahead of bryant?

Stupid Tennessee. Kirk gives up a single. Guy gets bunted over to second. Wild pitch by Kirk gets him to third. Then one intentional walk, which is the right move. But then they intentionally walk the next guy as well to load them up. Kirk promptly 4 pitch walks the next guy to walk in the winning run and deny Bryant his 6th AB.

How big of a prospect is Joc Pedersen considered?

15-20 range would be my guess at this point, but his K rate has taken a significant jump this year.

Yesterday in extended spring training: http://www.thecubreporter.com/05272014/eloy-goes-deep-and-strop-continues-rehab-diablo-park#more

Eloy Jimenez belted a three-run home run and an RBI single, Jeffrey Baez singled twice, walked, stole a base, and scored three runs, and Kevin Brown singled twice, walked, and scored two runs to help the Cubs take an early 4-0 lead, and Nataniel Delgado doubled twice and scored and Trevor Gretzky laced a two-run triple to aid the Angel comeback.

RHRP Pedro Strop (on Cubs MLB 15-day DL - groin) continued his EXST rehab with a shutout inning (18 pitches - 10 strikes). Strop was not as sharp this morning in Tempe as he was on Saturday in Scottsdale, as he walked one and was behind in the count on just about every hitter, but he did not allow a hit, he struck out two, and he got the third out on a broken bat 5-3 GO.

Only Kris Bryant could OPS .800 in a game without putting a ball in play.

I'd like to introduce you to this guy.

Arbitrary but fun:

Kris Bryant's first 5 professional games: 2 for 18, 2 2B, 6/1 K/BB

Kris Bryant since: 342 PA, 23 HR, .342/.436/.685/1.121

Also the only time Reynolds hit anywhere near that level in MiLB. The Pat Burrell comparison from before was the best one I've seen.

Reynolds in high-A: .337/.422/.670

California League and same age as Bryant is in AA.

Think that reply was more about gallo

Yeah, the Reynolds stuff was about Gallo.

I'm already expecting Troy Glaus with Bryant, but optimistic for more.

Troy Glaus output from Bryant in the current MLB offensive environment would more than suffice.

For sure. Troy's 2000 line of .284/.404/.604 with 47HR would be like an 7 or 8 fWAR season even with relatively neutral defense at 3B.

Easily the best comp. Similarly going to the OF too.

God, let's hope Bryant provides more value than Burrell did. Best season of 4.3fWAR and 2.8fWAR being second best thanks to some absolutely horrific defense. I'm also not quite ready to believe that Bryant is a .250-.255BA guy as a pro.

I wouldn't expect Bryant's defense to be absolutely horrific in the OF.
