A friend and his dad (early 70s ) are going to Wrigley to see the Yankees. Any advice on where they should sit? Haven't been to Wrigley in 7 years probably, so I don't trust my opinion.

i'd normally recommend upper deck infield, but that's a lot of walking up ramps depending on what kind of shape his dad is in.

just avoid the bleachers and don't get too far under the grandstand (poles) and anywhere is pretty good.

Avoid bleachers why? The people?

Everything.

It's far as [expletive] from the action. The seats aren't reserved (which is a pain in the ass with regard to bathroom breaks or concession runs). The people. You have to lean forward the entire game. You have to get there earlyish to get the better of the crappy views.

I really don't have a single positive thing to say about them. Maybe the female eye candy.

It's hip to say the bleachers suck, but they don't.

feels more like you're trying to be hip by saying they don't because they do

No, they really don't. There are fewer tourists, you can yell things without ushers saying anything to you, and you can stand up without folks asking you to sit down. There are several disadvantages to sitting in the bleachers, especially for a 70 year old man, but it's a really fun place from which to take in a game.

They're far away from the action, have no seat back, can potentially fry your skin in a day game, don't reserve your seat, and they can attract an obnoxious brand of fan, all at the same or higher price than sitting elsewhere in the park. Unless getting to say you "sat in the bleachers at Wrigley" is important to you, it truly is a very bad choice, especially in times like these where you can be a little picky about where you sit.

My favorite place in the park to sit is roughly sections 413-427, bottom of the upper deck but not down the line. They aren't cheap seats, but cheaper than sitting in front of poles on the lower level, you get a tremendous view that's close the action, plus you're likely to be shaded and closer to amenities. All the benefits of the poles without having to worry about any yourself. Like was mentioned it does require some ramp walking, but I think that could be avoided with the elevator if it's a legitimate medical concern.

This is a subjective matter that I'm entirely confident saying you are wrong on.

2 seasons of sitting in 433 and being forced to move to bleachers this year for moving to a night and weekend package (and being completely bummed about it, mostly due to GA seating) . It's anecdotal, and I won't stay as a bleacher season ticket holder, but my in game experience is so much more fun.

I enjoy the bleachers, but they're an acquired taste. Getting there early enough to get a top row seat, so you don't have to lean, is a must (and usually this means being there before the gates open). This isn't a problem for me because I'm always coming from out of town and love spending as much time in Wrigley as I can, but for some it can be an issue.

Yeah you don't even have to show up early anymore to get a good seat. 20-30 min before first pitch is all it takes.

There's some truth to the bleachers being relatively better vs. the rest of the park when the team sucks.

I nearly got heat stroke out there one year. I'm glad you like them but I'll try my best to sit somewhere else now

Between getting beer spilled on you, listening to some random frat guy talk about how great Ryan Theriot was and having to go to the bathroom in turn so you don't lose your seat, I'll pass on the bleachers. I'm much happier casually sipping beer and watching the game from the shade.
