The Wolves might feel pressure to start winning but it won't be any higher or lower 30 days from now. That 30 day window is all that is needed for the Bulls to get played like a fiddle again.

Yeah, I refuse to get excited about any trades involving the Bulls until it's listed as confirmed on ESPN (Sports for Dummies).

If this is going down it could be going down quicker than expected.

Per source: Forman put a deadline on TWolves response so that there isn't this back-and-forth playing the Cavs and Bulls against each other.

I'm not getting my hopes up. I'd have no issue at all throwing a few 1sts on top of McDermott/Taj/Mirotic, if they're not already included. Still think Cavs get him though.

I don't think Love even can sign an extension right now. He's only two years into his deal, and I think you have to be three years in to even have a chance of an extension. What he can do for security though is essentially opt in to his 4th year of his deal, which would give the team who trades for him at least two years.

I read that Mirotic had a clause in his contract that he couldn't be traded for 1 year, but that either the Bulls or T-Wolves were going to pay the "penalty" for breaking that clause

League source insists Bulls not serious about Love. Says the Bulls won't pay Gasol, Noah, & Love & only be able to play 2 at a time.

The biggest problem with any Love deal is that it's technically a rental. Giving that up and then watching Love bolt for GSW or Cleveland in Free Agency would be pretty devastating, so you'd need some assurance he'd be willing to stay long term. For GSW there's the obvious hometown angle and if they somehow were able to keep Thompson that makes a nice core of Love/Curry/Thompson. Cleveland has the New Big 3 angle and maybe 4 if they can hold onto Wiggins. The Bulls would be really strong with Love/Noah/Rose as a nucleus too, you just have to decide how much weight to put the odds of something going wrong(Rose injury, Wiggins takes off making Cleveland a more appealing destination, Barnes takes off making GSW attractive, etc) that would leave the Bulls with nothing after this season.

I must be missing something with the hometown angle. Love was born in LA, grew up in Portland and his only year in college was back in LA.

Whoever this is is talking out of their ass. Taj makes more than Gasol and they never played Taj Boozer and Noah at the same time this tweet is not an accurate tweet.

I might be in the minority on this, but I think the bulls would better served seeking out a strong wing player in a trade for Gibson as opposed to sacrificing three or more assets for a guy who may not even be here next year. I think bigs are a serious strength and Gibson definitely has the potential to be a great asset to help us fill our biggest void, which is a quality starting 2/3. This would have to mean the bulls would be placing serious trust in mirotic.

Yeah, that doesn't make sense. Gibson makes over 8 mill a year, so he's not exactly cheap. If the Bulls aren't serious about Love this isn't the reason. This smacks of the incredibly inaccurate yet enduring "Reinsdorf is cheap" legend.

I would prefer a wing, someone who can be a creator with Rose. But I'm not waiting around for some hypothetical wing if Love was available. It's not like if this wing showed up available you wouldn't still have awesome assets to try and obtain them.

If I'm Minnesota, I'm holding out for Thompson or Wiggins. That Bulls offer should not be good enough considering what other teams could offer (CLE, GS) and I think they will offer at some point.

But as to your point, yeah, ideally you'd get a wing player that can fill it up and create. But there's none of those guys on the market. If you can get a 25/12 guy in his prime, you do it....guards be damned.

Cavs signed Wiggins. He can't be traded for 30 days now.

Could they still do a trade now with a PTBNL, with the understanding it's Wiggins?

They can agree to a deal in principal and just wait the 30 days, kind of like the beginning of free agency when players can agree to deals immediately. They just don't make it official until July 10th or whatever date that is.

I don't think the 30 day thing is really that big of a deal.

Just assuming for a second that the Wolves don't take our deal and take one of the two way better deals that seem to be on the table, don't we have an open roster spot to sign a wing?

How much money do we have to use on this (only a vet min?) and who is realistically available.

Normally I wouldn't give a [expletive] about the 13th man but we are undeniably a contender so maybe we could get end up with good player.

Shawn Marion would probably be the best bet for that.

Haha at Bulls fans (again), that deal would be an absolute steal for the Bulls.*

With the caveat of Love's contract situation; though not only would Chicago likely have some assurances, but if Rose plays, Love would surely re-sign in Chicago.
