Oh, of course it's completely meaningless. I'm not sure any of the players or front office personnel that were reportedly at the dinner would have been texting Alex Kennedy status updates between courses or whatever. I just get a kick out of all this stuff.

 

At any rate, KC Johnson has contradicted this Kennedy dude multiple times today, so all this stuff is basically worthless. Kennedy tweeted that Rose went through a full workout in front of Melo to convince him that he was healthy. Johnson said that it was a scheduled rehab session well before Carmelo arrived. Kennedy also said that Rose was in attendance for the dinner, while Johnson said that he only joined the United Center portion of the meeting.

Broussard tweeted Knicks won't consider a S&T involving Boozer. Yeah, it's Broussard, but I fully expect that to be true. Bringing Taj into the meeting, when he's going to have to be dealt just to get Melo remotely close monetarily, was stupid.

I haven't been thinking the Knicks would. If they involve Boozer in an S&T, it'll be a 3 way of some kind.

 

Also heard that Windhorst said something about the Lakers being willing to entertain Boozer for Pau. Not sure how that would work in conjunction with the rumor that Pau might be interested in coming here with Melo.

 

Bringing Taj was absolutely not stupid. Both sides (Melo and the Bulls) want him here.

Apparently the Gasol S&T for Boozer or the MLE if Melo comes are two separate rumors, which makes a lot more sense.

 

 

Anyway, if they do manage to get Boozer out in a Melo S&T, I'd imagine it would be by finding a 3rd team to take him, which doesn't seem THAT crazy.

I realize it's mostly just the logistics of everything, b ut it's pretty sweet that the Bulls got an entire afternoon/evening and the Mavs and Rockets have to split a day.

 

Also, not sure if it's been mentioned, but apparently the Knicks (at least, informally) offered Melo the full boat max today.

 

EDIT - lol the Bulls spent 9 hours with him. holy [expletive].

If there's teams even willing to offer half the max we should probably just move him now because I don't see us matching that. Plus the return should be good.

My baseless speculation: Melo said he wants to come here, but wants more than $15m, Bulls have to trade Taj, Bulls trying to get Gasol for MLE.

 

I definitely don't think he would sign for MLE but whatever.
