wasn't he a top-75 prospect just two years ago? he's progressed through the system at a pretty typical pace since

but anyway, Szczur shows more in game power (XBHs) than Andreoli and seems to have a better defensive reputation

i'd rather compare him to somebody like Vitters, whom we actually know more about; i'd have little hesitation in betting on Szczur to post higher a career WAR

Szczur has a .700 OPS in over 700 PA at AA, and he turns 25 this year. Even with the defensive difference he's still a cut below Vitters. His prospect status has always been aspirational, and while he had a brief glimpse of that at Daytona(.373 wOBA) it simply hasn't panned out in the significant sample since then.

so at this point I'm just basing ratings off of the other rankings that have finished. I want to vote for Torres because he's not that far off of Jimenez. I also see the multitude of ready pen arms and potential starters and have no clue how to discern who may be a better vote. I guess I would need 10 votes at this point if I were to rank equally so I'm just going to watch it unfold from here on in. I only mention this in the comments because I'm curious how many other readers feel the same.

I think it's just personal preference at this point. For me, I like the starting potential of guys like Skulina and Underwood (even if they're far away) over a guy like Alberto Cabrera, who has the ability to be a force in a major league bullpen this year and beyond, but is already 25 and has never had much success above AA.

Yeah youth for me that still haven't lost that upside to dream on. We know it's not likely, but I prefer to dream on young prospects than Meh on older ones.

This time last year, I would have voted Cabrera a long time ago. What a difference a year makes. He went from dominating starter in AA to 21 2/3 ok innings in the majors with control problems to back in AA as a dominating starter, (much less of a feat when you're there for the 4th season in a row) and still couldn't get over the AAA hump. He also wasn't able to contibute to the ML bullpen.

He's in the Jackson, Vitters, Olt realm for me of guys who are done as prospects, IMO. They all still have places in the organization, and may get a shot to compete, but anything you get out of them at this point has to be considered a bonus. I'd have all 4 between 25-40 (Jackson much closer to 40, if at all).

What has Duane Underwood ever accomplished since being drafted to warrant being ahead of some of these guys?

I don't know much about what he's done, only some vague memories that he has not really put it together yet. But it's more of a pedigree thing of youth, and being a second round pick of a good FO. That's about it. But as others have said, you could probably lump 10+ guys together. It's a mix of average fringe guys and some young guys who could show improvement and become something. Take your pick.

Oh i did. I just don't get it with him. Its all still something someone saw in HS games/showcases 2 yrs ago. He's not in my top 30 anymore.

He's still 19 years old. He throws mid 90's and is still learning to pitch. When drafted, he was considered a project. He's got a higher upside than Just about any pitcher in the system. Just going to take time. He's definitely still in my top 30, even figuring he'll repeat Boise this year.

OK. He works in the low 90s, and occasionally touches higher is what i've read. Thats nice. But "throws hard" as your #1 draw isn't good enough to be ahead of some of these other guys who have, you know, had success.

For me, at least Dunston (has shown something), Cabrera, Leal (younger, and was pretty awesome in the ARL last year), Rosscup, G.Torres (I realize he also hasn't proven anything - but this one's a shot in the dark). I also like Skulina more, but i also tend to like college arms a little bit more.
