Two years from today, Latin American IFAs born in 2000 will be signing.

Yankees have signed 21 players today for 12 mill and are expected to sign a few more, including a 3 mill guy. THAT is what we needed to do last year and better do next year, if the Yanks haven't ruined it for everyone.

No, this is one I actually blame the FO on. With the rumors that a team missed out on guys due to handlers not thinking they could sign them all....I figure that was us and we should have done a better job of conveying it to the handlers.

Granted, I doubt the super friends have much to do with this side of things, it's probably all in Serra's hands(and whoever else has the contacts down there) Still, they oversee, so ultimately it's on them.

That said, at least we DID get some excellent talent out of it.

are we safe from the international draft next year?

Badler and Kiley both think so, but everyone knows its coming and the Yankees doing this could put it that much higher on MLB's priority list. So who knows?

If/when a international draft happens has there been any ideas what time of year it would be held? You'd think they'd announce it at least a yearish out to give teams the proper time to adjust, understand it, etc. But then again this is MLB/Bud so why would they do anything logical.

The Cards are just flat out trolling us. They signed a SS named Starlin Balbuena.

I've seen his first name as Starling more times than Starlin on Twitter today. Ehh, Cubs have a Starling on the farm too, just in case.

Was Wendy Thurm wrong in her Fangraphs piece or did the rules change from last year to this year? The Yankees can't sign anyone for over 300,000 for TWO years now? There'll be a draft anyway, but did the rules change and I just missed it?

The rules did change to stretch the penalties out to two years starting this year.

But it's still a good bet that Thurm got something wrong.

Guess it does bring in to question what our penalty would be for going over next year if there's a draft set for 2016? My guess(without knowing how a draft would truly work obviously) would be the loss of 2 future 1sts. Which would at least make it imperative to hit really big, so you make it worth it.

According to Badler, the Brewers are trying to trade for space before signing Lara.

They're the only team of the four expected to go over their slot that seemed interested in a trade.

Wonder what the Cubs would want there - there's not much interesting in their farm system and I still have a tough time trying to value IFA space. I wonder if there's any way they can expand the trade to get the Brewers 2015 competitive balance pick.

BA's pick for their top defensive catcher seems to be hitting okay in AA(and has strong on base skills in general), take him and call it a day.
