How on earth can the Saints afford Byrd?

The Graham being classified as a TE situation can't hurt

But...they had $1.9mil in cap space before the Byrd signing...they're going to be in cap hell for a long time. This Byrd contract has to be heavily backloaded.

Here's the Saints payroll without Byrd added in (no contract details yet):

I think it just goes towards the reality that the cap rarely keeps a team from adding a single piece. Things can be moved around to accomodate it. Several pieces? Probably a different story.

@jasonrmcintyre: NFL Free Agency no fun for @JayGlazer: routine back procedure turned into a trip to the ER. Anesthesia led to vomiting, choking and pneumonia

@JayGlazer Crazy morning, lungs aspirated during routine procedure, now in hospital with double pneumonia

Denver:

LB- Von Miller

DE- Demarcus Ware (assuming he signs)

SS- TJ Ward

CB- Aqib Talib

CB- Chris Harris (who's really good)

Sadly, they still won't win the Superbowl.

Not sure if those numbers reflect Malcom Jenkins leaving for the Eagles, but they are also expected to release Bunkley and Grubbs.

Also, Sproles was still on that list.

Right but, Sproles hasn't been cut or traded yet. Are they allowed to be over the cap right now?

All they have to do is get Byrd to agree. He probably hasn't physically signed the contract yet.

Welp, I'll put it out. I hear the #Browns called about Tom Brady, and the Pats haven't said no yet.

Kyle Meinke ‏@kmeinke 56s

Golden Tate has the best hands of any receiver in the NFL since 2011, per PFF. Caught 144 of past 149 catchable balls.

Stafford's thinking "yeah, we'll see about that"

Sproles traded to Eagles for a 5th round pick.

Sad to see him go, but between him and Pierre Thomas, I'd rather keep Pierre.

As for Sproles in Philly, is he redundant with McCoy already there? It doesn't seem like the best fit for him as far as touches he'll get.

yeah definitely keep Pierre.

I REALLY coveted McCluster. Good lord he would have done epic things in Payton's offense.

OK, not to go all inside info on you but through my work I have the opportunity to talk with Mickey Loomis sometimes and he will talk football with me. Not that I think he is going to tell me some sensitive info or anything, but I think he shoots me straight.

FWIW, they really like K. Robinson at RB. The feeling is that between Thomas, Robinson, Ingram, Cadette and maybe a later round pick they can negate the loss of Sproles. Generally, they are really trying to become a younger, tougher football team and not depend so much on Drew to save the day every week, which I think was demonstrated towards the end of last season. Reading between the lines, I think Rob Ryan's personality is really carrying over to both sides of the ball. Bill Parcells really has Payton's ear this offseason more than ever.

Steve Smith to be cut today.

Dave Gettleman better be damn sure he's getting whoever it is he's after in the NFL draft, because dumping our only receiver worth a [expletive] doesn't make a lick of sense.

Releasing Steve Smith makes plenty of sense.

If you have another WR it makes a lot of sense. Unless I missed something, Carolina's best wideout not about to be released currently is Brandon LaFell, which would be fine if the team's goal was to go 7-9.

Andy, go to work.
