It just seems like REALLY overstating things to me. "Activism" is a pretty singular focus on a cause. This was a just a cool guy using his platform so just spout some common sense.

Aside from the fact that 'writing a few articles' would fall under the very definition of 'activism', I'm not sure why the use of the word rankles you. I've never heard of that word having a particularly negative connotation before. I could've subbed in 'being vocal in his views, which should be supported by anyone regardless of affiliation' but I didn't feel like typing all of that. Guess I'll know better next time.

Well, he's not George Takei or anything, but he went well beyond what most people, celebrity or not, would do. It probably boils down to semantics, so not really a big deal to me. Bottom line is that hopefully he helped get the law repealed and it shitty that he's getting black balled if that's what's really happening.

This is basically what I'm disagreeing with; he didn't really do anything above and beyond. That's not a slam on him; it's great what he's done, but it feels like anyone trying to paint this as something more is kinda looking for a roundabout way to rationalize it as a reason for him losing his job.

I just noticed that in the third sentence of Kluwe's article he himself refers to his statements/articles as 'activism', so there's that.

One would think the word "progressive" wouldn't have negative connotations either, but for a certain segment of the population it does.

But really, I just wanted to bash Andy because it disgusts me every time he comments on anything along these lines.

My openly gay brother - who last I checked I love just as much now as I did before I knew he was gay - could walk into the room I'm sitting in right now and film a gay porno right in front of me and it wouldn't disgust me half as much as you do, you pretentious [edit]. Enjoy life judging everyone you come across and please feel free to jump off a [edit] building and make this world a better place.

Goodbye.

Glad BOB made the old staff come in to work, just to get canned.

@alexmarvez

O'Brien met briefly with assistants to fire them. Didn't ask for feedback on current players. Expect heavy @patriots feel to new staff

He should've fired them by text message. Or maybe a Facebook post.

Stoops a candidate for the Browns?

Ian Rapoport ‏@RapSheet 40m

#Browns top 2 candidates: #Patriots OC Josh McDaniels and #Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops. … We’ll talk about this later on @nflnetwork

Perfect way for Stoops to leave without completely burning bridges.

Step One: Leave for NFL because "it's always been a dream of mine, as much as I love Oklahoma."

Step Two: Fail with Browns, collect huge paychecks

Step Three: Return to college with a different elite program, along with a bigger bank account.

Titans fire Munchak. Dew should be happy.

Feel bad for Browns fans if they hire McDaniels and draft Manziel at 4. Its like they're trying to lose.

They fired Chud because it wasn't going to get any better -- and THIS is the answer.

I don't feel sorry for Chud. Guy got a golden parachute and a get out of jail free card. He'll do much better away from Cleveland.

I'm thrilled, though I hate that it didn't work out with Munchak because he seems like a great guy.

Very early rumors are that Rich Bisacia and Dan Quin are in consideration. Ruston also said that they're considering coaches currently on playoff teams. I expect Darrell Bevell to be a serious contender, which I like. Hoping they look at Todd Bowles and Stoops too.

In the right situation (front office fully behind him and no stars to piss off) I think McDaniels might have a chance to succeed. Wouldn't be near the top of my list though.

You can Take Bevell but leave Dan Quinn alone...

Tell me about Quinn, if you would. My impression has been that he's just kind of living off others' accomplishments - was the DC at Florida where it's basically Muschamp's defense and now is in Seattle where it's basically Carroll/Gus Bradley's defense. Clearly I could be wrong about that, but I'm just not sure what there is to like about Quinn.

If you could tell me about Bevell too, I'd appreciate it. I've heard from national people that he's creative offensively, but now two Seattle fans that I've heard from haven't liked him .

Unless he's magically learned from his awful mistakes in Chicago, Tampa is going to regret giving him final say on personnel. That's what ruined the 2007 draft, when drafting for the system took precedence over drafting talent.
