Love NFL prediction time. "Looks like 9-7 or 10-6 with a shot at 11-5 if we steal one. Should be 7-9 at worst" said any NFL fan ever.

Basically take your toughest two home games and make them losses. Split your roads games at .500 and everyone is 10-6!

To be fair, a different writer picked each of those records, so of course they didn't balance out to .500.

And of course a bunch of local writers ended up being homers.

Yeah, they made that clear at the top. It's still pretty funny that only 1 NFC team predicted sub .500. At least the Raiders and Browns writers predicted 10+ losses and each AFC division had a writer with the balls to pick sub .500.

WTF? It's Thanksgiving, that is what happens on Thanksgiving every year. The Bears and Lions each have three days rest (Bears play Tampa at home week before while New England hosts Lions.

Yeah, it's not the first ever Sun game/Thurs game week.

So I've been trying to research the Bears pre draft visits to get an idea who they may draft. In Emery's first two drafts there was pretty strong correlation.

So a few notes-

We're drafting a safety in the first two rounds. Dix, Pryor, Fuller, and Bucannon all have had official visits. Credit to a RealGM poster , but Bucannon probably has the best measurables, so don't be surprised if he's the guy, even in round one (it wouldn't be an Emery draft if round one didn't feel like a big reach).

Don't be surprised if we pass on Donald (though I think he may be gone anyways). We did meet with him at the combine, but no official Halas Hall visit as far as i can see. One DL to visit was Nix who could certainly fit in a hybrid or straight 3-4 scheme. Donald makes tons of sense for a true Tampa 2 team. He's also small and save for the McClellin pick, Emery seems to like size too, and has talked about valuing it more.

They may be looking for versatility. Both are late day 3 prospects (or even UDFA), but both De'Anthony Thomas and Jordan Lynch had official visits. Will be interesting to see if Emery takes a risk on a potential big play athlete without a position and let Trestman figure out the rest. Both these guys could possibly line up in the backfield, but neither would be a true runner, and also line up as WR. With only Ford and Draugh behind Forte one more body would be wise, so it will be interesting to see if or how Emery addresses RB in the draft. With our defensive FA signings I wouldn't even mind a true RB in rd 2 or 3 though I can't find any word of visits, so no signs we plan to address RB early.

Obviously the pre draft visits are only one thing to go on, but basically the only insight we have now. Any significant visits I'm missing?

He says Donald did visit with the Bears.

I think he's wrong. From what I can find online, he's met with (or has meets set up with) the Steelers, Cowboys and Rams.

So this is a pretty cool way of looking at the schedule...

Interesting that 3 of the 4 teams in the division have their bye the same week, and Minny has the bye the week following. Should make the standings pretty clear most of the season.

Also regarding visits it seems possible that guy isn't distinguishing between private visits and combine/pro day visits (he has 32 listed and the max is 30) . But it's obviously a guessing game and they may choose to leak certain pre draft visits and conceal others. Edited by WrigleyField 22

This thing did the same thing you did: http://bearsdraftontap.com/author/aaronrleming/

He says Donald did visit with the Bears. Of course we didn't know Long had a pre-draft meeting until he said so after he was drafted.

A lot of those aren't actual "visits" from what I understand. Ealy was taken out to dinner before the Mizzou pro day. Jean Baptiste, I've only been able to confirm a senior bowl interview. The Bears went to Florida for Easley. Pretty sure he didn't go to Chicago.

Hageman did visit last week also, I believe. Jean-Louis from BC is a LB not a CB.

Also, McClellin wasn't much of a reach. I believe he was ranked like 23 by NFLdraftscout.com. He went 20. He was just a horrible fit.

If I had to guess based on Emery's draft tendecies the last 2 years....I'd guess: Hageman at 14 (somewhat of a reach, size/athleticism combo, scheme versatile, very raw). In the 2nd, I'd guess he'd trade up for Bucannon once Jimmie Ward comes off the board if he has to (or vice versa). Probably no more than 6-8 spot move and giving up a 4th or 5th. Then the next 2 rounds, I'd think he'd look at CB and/or for more of a 3-tech DT that might be falling (Quarles, Sutton, Easley all have reasons they could fall to the 3rd/4th). Then a RB and either a 2nd S or a LB to develop late. Also, I'm fully expecting the last pick to be used on Colt Lyerla. Similar to the Wilson pick last year. Top 50 talent that quit his team, off field concerns, but he has a Kyle Long connection.

Pretty good review. I would contend some of the classifications (or at least contend their predictive value), but it at the very least gives a good overview.

Yeah, not a big enough sample to predict based on two drafts.

I wonder what possessed someone to put "CHI" as forest green with red font. NE pretty weird looking too.
