Corey Wooten said that the 4th down call was an 'all out blitz'. So basically if we didn't get there, we were going to be screwed, and we didn't and we were. Shocker. Brilliant Tucker

Why do you do an all out blitz on a 4th and 8!?!?!?!?! I was prepared to give Tucker a 2nd chance due to injuries and let him revamp the defense/get his type of players in the offseason, but he should be fired tomorrow morning.

Yeah and the team had covered pretty decently all game. Time was on your side. If they convert make a tackle and force them to kick a long-ish FG on your [expletive] ass field.

That was such a bad, bad call. Such a bad call.

that combined with coaching a team that gives up on a fumble/incomplete pass and walks off the field as its returned for a TD are enough to give him his walking papers.

sucks for us all that the derp this week until a decision is made will be about Jay not leading them to victory

This team has all the makings of a 13-3 first round bye team next year. Book it.

I like you despite your USC leanings but how drunk are you?

We're going to suck on both sides of the ball while AJ McCarron leads us to a 6-10 record.

For the first time in a long time we have the guys steering the ship to keep us in front of the trends. Just need to get a guy who will have our D flying to the ball and can spot good talent.

Can't tell if serious.

I'm pretty confident that Cutler will be back.

well, in fairness, what did Tucker have to lose?

Well the NFC North division and get to play another game?

Nope. His job was toast unless he pulled a miracle from his ass so he rolled the dice.

Ironically, he'll be back next year.

I don't trust Cutler will be back next season. It might be the alcohol but I felt that way before the game unless the Bears won.

Cutler will be franchised. Not entirely sure if there will be a long term deal.

I don't really foresee problems working out a long term deal and I don't anticipate him getting tagged (or, at least, playing on the tag).

I don't think we have stupid people running the team so I'm not too concerned that they would make that decision based on the outcome of today's game.

Only sully's team

I think Jay will be back and on a longterm deal we're all very happy with. Keep Slauson. Draft D for the most part. Let Tillman go, keep Jennings. Bring Melton back. With what's out there and the cap hit it'll take to cut him, the biggest question mark in my opinion is whether Peppers is back or not?

At any rate, I think we're in very good shape myself.

sulley was completely right... the most heartbreaking way imaginable

there is a God and he hates the Bears, Cubs, and Bulls

What a shitty game.

There's all sorts of conflicting reports coming from the coaching staff and defensive players about the 4th and 8 play call. To me, it looked like a player screw-up. Three of the DBs looked to be in man-to-man(Wright's coverage being tackle the guy to the ground), and Conte was playing zone. There's no defensive designed to leave the deep middle of the field uncovered (either through man-to-man or zone). Some Bears fans might remember a similar situation in the Super Bowl vs. the Colts and Daniael Manning and Reggie Wayne.

Bears haven't been good at blitzing for years

I've never once considered the possibility Cutler leaves. To where, Tennessee? Nope, the league hates him. Only a team like Chicago would take him.

Houston, Jacksonville, Arizona, Tennessee or St. Louis are really the only landing spots.

It was both: a bad play call and blown coverage. It was probably a blitz with zone coverage with the safety supposed to stay over the top to prevent the TD throw. Shouldn't have called a blitz, especially not an all-out blitz, in that situation. And Conte failed by biting on the underneath route, allowing Cobb to get away without anybody covering him.

That being said, as a coach you need to put your players in the best situation to succeed. Tucker doesn't do that. He left Conte hanging out to dry. Conte isn't that good and counting on him to have solo coverage like that while blitzing a very good QB is moronic at best.

Tucker should be fired and Conte, while he may not be cut, shouldn't be starting next year.

I remember Manning saying later that he knew what the defensive call was, but he said screw it I'm doing my own thing.

Props to whoever called that the Bears would miss the playoffs in the worst possible way ever. You nailed it all season. Love Chicago Sports.
