Barnwell with an article backing up that Thursday games actually aren't more "sloppy" than Sunday or Monday games, if "sloppy" is defined by turnovers and dropped passes. Average amount of turnovers is lower per game on Thurs than Sun/Mon as well as the percentage of plays that result in turnovers and drops on Thurs are the same as on Sun and less than Mon.

Obviously you can define sloppy by other things (penalties, individuals running wrong plays, yardage, injuries, etc.), which he admits, but I found it interesting since the general consensus seems to be that Thursday games are by far the "sloppiest" of the games each week by any measure.

I would never define a sloppy game by just turnovers and dropped passes. That is putting all the slop on the skill position players that take the least amount of abuse on Sunday and therefore require the least amount of rest before the next game. That's just a silly way to look at it.

It also ignores other aspects of even skill players "sloppiness"....of the top of my head, incompletions (bad QB throws, or poor route running), or poor running that doesn't result in turnovers.

There was a play under 2 minutes in the half in the Dallas-Eagles game where Dez makes what looked like a catch but he was ruled incomplete. I'm not certain it was a catch, but it was close enough that even Aikman and Buck said it looked like a catch. The Cowboys waited until 1 second on the play clock until snapping with no review.

Now, I'm not complaining about it being ruled on the field incomplete. It definitely was close...and with enough reviews I may even think incomplete. My complaint is that if coaches cannot challenge under 2 minutes, then all close plays should be looked at.

If not, give coaches the ability to challenge.

Man, I knew Carolina was going to give STL a bunch of momentum after only getting a FG there, but didn't realize it'd be so quick.

The whole concept of challenges are dumb (and it's horrible MLB is going that way). College football handles replay so much better.

That's fine, but this play should have been reviewed. It was the exactly the type of play replay was created for.

Cleveland with a recovered onside neutralized by an offsides, then they do it again and recover but the ball stops before getting 10 yards. Not sure how that's possible.
