ABTY again:

Lol...too vague on my end...don't want to leave you guys to days of wonder- hearing Starling to Angels... Bye bye

Posted

But seriously the only name on the MLB roster that really intrigues me on the Angels end is Kole Calhoun. I mean obviously Trout, but realistically... Calhoun. Their SP isn't deep so I don't see them moving C.J. Wilson (though I would like that). Their farm system is kinda weak, is it not?

The Angels aren't a very good match for Castro unless the Cubs are getting something ridiculously good back.

Unless that's a deliberate dick move and he's talking about someone like Bubba Starling or something.

He was talking about Bubba Starling not Starlin.

That makes sense... but I've never seen someone post an ABTY rumor here outside of Cubs related stuff so I figured it was a typo.

I put this at PSD so it's easy to see what it looks like...

The gist of it would be:

Shark to Royals

Howie to Cubs

Bubba to Angels

plus whoever else is involved (Hoch was mentioned and I wouldn't be surprised he goes to the Cubs in this)

I don't think it could be both Shark and Howie to Royals unless Cubs are getting back something like Zimmer/Ventura+ Angels/Royals prospects...

It's an update to the rumor from the last page about a Cubs/Angels/Royals 3 way involving shark.

That's actually a pretty interesting opportunity to try and get the right guys in a trade with KC. I've long wanted Duffy and one of Zimmer/Ventura in that deal, and having Kendrick involved makes it more likely they'd surrender that value. The big question would be what the Cubs need to send to LA, and what KC thinks of a couple of it's own players, namely Starling and Hochevar.

Not sure why the Cubs would deal Shark for Kendrick. Both are ~3 win players 2 years from FA, and Kendrick is gonna make ~5 million more over those 2 years(plus the Cubs have more options at 2B than they do at SP).

Derp... I didn't realize the page switched over.

Oh so that's an update on the whole mention of angels + royals hochevar, hendrick and starling. Um so if the angels are getting starling. Which team is getting Shark and who the FRACK are the Cubs getting?

Yeah I don't get this. Our FO wants prospects, or MLBers that are young 24-27ish maybe. Kendrick is a nice upgrade at 2B from Barney but he is 30. Could he be part of the package? sure. But to list him as your only name implies he's the headliner? And I'm sorry but that is stupid. The Cubs would be the ones wanting guys like Starling, Zimmer, etc. . Howie is a 2nd piece to upgrade 2B in the near term? Sure I can buy it. But we want prospects to add to our already huge wave of prospects that are about MLB ready.

Well ABTY7 only listed Shark/Kendrick/Hoch with Starling being thrown out there so that's all I was working with. That why I put plus whoever else is involved (ABTY7 did say others) at the end of the quote, but we have no clue who they are. Just because I had Kendrick to the Cubs, it doesn't mean he's the headliner. Maybe 1 of Zimmer/Ventura is involved and going to the Cubs. At least I wasn't trying to imply it. I'm not sure, but I was just trying to get an idea of what the 3 way trade would look like with ABTY7's info.

Now I could be wrong and maybe it means BOTH Shark and Kendrick are going to the Royals, Starling to Angels, then Cubs getting a ridiculous prospect package from Royals/Angels. I'm not sure what kind of package it would be to make that work, but it does mean that Royals system would be worse than the Angels after this 3 way trade.

Someone over at PSD had a mock with the cubs getting Ventura, Kendrick, and a couple of lower arms like Almonte and Lamb. That I could maybe live with. Gives you one top prospect type arm and a couple to add to the pool of talented high A, soon to be AA arms. Also replacing Barney with someone who can actually hit for the next couple of years while Alcantara gets his needed time in the minors.

EDIT: I know Lamb isn't an 'A' arm, just wanted to note that. He is a guy with upside though.

Has Lamb regained any velocity? Or should I not get at all excited about him?

Honestly don't know, and it's just a name some random poster/fan threw out there. I just posted it because I desperately need to talk about possible moves/trades. :) What do you think about the overall package though (substitute somes names for pieces #3 and #4)?

I'd definitely take that.

Yeah I like it, love it if lamb has a chance to be anything still.

Traslated ESPN Deportes article claims Cano is in Seattle and a source says the offer is 10yrs 230-240

Yikes. Even if they make this move they're at least one more bat away from being a contender. Are they going to have any money to do it?

Holy smokes. So the Mariners have to be the heavy favorites to sign him, right? It's not like he has to worry about another contract if/when the change in parks (and of course, age, but that would've happened in NY as well) hurts his numbers.
