While something like that is seemingly written as image control for Kane, it's actually a really good piece of marketing for the people in charge of making sure Toews isn't seen as too much of a robot to be a good product pusher.

that pass from keith on the sharp breakaway goal was insane.

Yeah that was amazing. Keith is getting a lot of Norris buzz though I think a lot of voters want it to be Petriangelo's time.

Just heard on the radio, didn't realize it, Kane is 0-for-7 on the shootout this year and Tavares is 0-for-5. Crazy.

How can anyone in Chicago not be a Blackhawks fan at this point? Like they're really the only team worth watching.

Because there are thousands of insane people who think soccer is better than hockey (and many of them post on this board)

I take it you probably hate soccer; what if the Chicago soccer team was the only good team in town? That's what it's like when the Blackhawks are good.

I happen to love soccer more, but do enjoy watching the hockey.

Wasn't talking about you. N&G and TT, though.....

Soccer is a wildly popular sport with a very strong niche market that is in no way as fun to watch as hockey, no matter how many children in 3rd world countries play it in the streets.

One of my favorite Sulley quotes involves the word "soccer" and the phrase "wadded up sacks of UNICEF grain" or something like that.

But I digress. It's fun, but in a different way, especially for casual sports fans.

And it's definitely different for people that grew up with it and/or played the sport beyond a certain point.

Still better than knife-footed apes.

That's just because I'm being petty about the way the meatball faction of their fanbase treated my guy. If he went back there I'd be all in again. Besides, I still would rather they win than either of the Manchesters or Chelsea.

there were years when the fire were the best team in Chicago (1999-2000) and no one gave a [expletive]. When the Blackhawks won the Cup 2 million people showed up to celebrate.

I'm not arguing/don't care which is more popular; I was responding to the guy wondering why someone in Chicago wouldn't be a Blackhawks fan. If you dislike hockey then the city's hockey team being good is akin to the Fire being good for someone that doesn't like soccer.

that sequence in the 3rd was so amazing. hawks get a penalty up 6-2 and Q puts the scrubs out for the pp, as to not run up the score. the flyers get back-to-back shorthanded breakaways out of it, and raanta makes 2 ridiculous saves. the flyers then goon it up and give the hawks a 5 on 3. quenneville puts the #1 unit back on the ice and they score immediately on a filthy pass from kane.

Kane has 14 points in his last 7 games. 8 points in his last 3 games.

1 point behind Crosby for league leader in points. On pace for 101 points. Stud.

Any guesses on the AAV and length of his next deal?

Knives inherently improve things.

so your point is that people who aren't interested in something don't have interest in that thing.

that's still a terrible comparison. the NHL is considered to be one of the 4 major sports in america. it has a long, storied history with a very strong following. the mls has been around for like 20 years and is not close to being in the same class as the NHL. i think you're underestimating how big the NHL following is just because you aren't around it.

should have just said it's akin to the bulls being good for someone who doesn't like football.
