What would be the disadvantage of simply doing away with head to head and making the standings based on overall points scored?

 

I guess it takes away the week to week-ness of fantasy but who cares? I feel like I'm always on the bad end of the 'lots of points, mediocre record' thing as well.

 

If you want you can even just take the top 4 or 8 teams after 13-14 weeks and do a H2H playoffs if you like randomness and rewarding teams for finishing strong and making solid in season moves to improve their teams.

I think it keeps guys interested deeper into the season. Also it gives some additional strategy of picking consistent week to week players.

Nothing like both of your QBs getting broken on the same day. Fortunately, I got destroyed because my opponent had a huge day and I likely wouldn't have won even with a non negative 1 from Cutler yesterday.

 

UPDATE: My roster is screwed. Lost Cobb last week for 4-6 weeks, Cutler for 4-6 weeks this wee, Bradford (not great, but better than any waiver wire crap out there) for the season with an ACL, and also lost Reggie Wayne for the season with an ACL last night. So much for my 4-1-1 record and #2 spot in total points.

Uh, wow. That's about as bad as it gets. That sucks.

My team is 5-2 and I lost Julio Jones and Reggie Wayne. Now I'm stuck with freaking Torrey Smith, Mike Williams and that SD WR whose name I cant even think of anymore.

QB for me has been an absolute nightmare this year. Had the intention of taking Stafford in the draft because I thought he'd be cheap and our league has bonuses for 300+, 350+ and 400+ yard games. He went for more than expected so I ended up getting Eli, which I was fine with because his fantasy #s are always solid. My backups were Carson Palmer and EJ Manuel. Palmer gets dropped quick because he's terrible, Manuel gets hurt, Eli is [expletive]. I trade Fred Jackson for Cutler, put up 3 really great weeks, then he gets hurt. The QBs I'm looking to pick up when waivers open tomorrow? Josh Freeman, Mike Glennon or Josh McCown. Christ.

Keenan Allen? I picked him up last week when Cobb went down. If I can get decent numbers from him and find a reasonable QB, I might be okay because I have Charles at RB and a newly effective Ridley. I just need to not get crushed the next 4 weeks to still have a shot at the end. I've gotten trade proposals from 3 different guys today for Charles and would have pulled off Cutler and Charles for Rodgers and Reggie Bush had Cutler's diagnosis been better.
