I hope they've walked back their silly anger at Feder for breaking the story unless they're willing to never report a sports story until after a presser has been sent out

Yeah, I get that there's some "lash out" reaction when something like that happens, but blaming the messenger is silly.

That I 100% agree with. My only beef with the reporter is maybe (maybe) he could have reached out to them for comment. But as I typed that I'm not sure that even makes sense because several people got fired and he couldn't be expected to contact all of them.

ETA: But ultimately, Feder probably couldn't have known that the bosses at that station would be so unprofessional.

And he probably had no idea that they didn't know.

I was editing my last post to say that exact thing.

So instead of reporting the story, he's supposed to contact the employees directly to inform them directly they're fired?

What was silly about it is if there was to be a lash out, you'd expect it to be immediate. It's like they got sick of bitching about their bosses unprofessionalism, so they had to find a new outlet. I wonder if there was finger pointing going on from their bosses at Feder as their excuse for not letting them know.

Well, Julie DiCaro did tweet almost immediately some anger towards Feder. But yeah, the discussion on the radio took a while to develop.

I'm willing to give these folks a lot of latitude. I saw someone on Twitter criticize them for calling for Trestman to be fired later in the show, as though there is some hypocrisy there. These folks aren't going to have a multi-million dollar golden parachute. Christmas is coming up. Maybe these employees have kids. The emotions, trying to process this huge shock and remain focused on the air? That's too much to ask IMO.

No, of course not. To put a bow on my opinion here, it's far for the reporter to assume they had been told by then, so he's off the hook.

If I were espn I wouldn't want my sports personalities arguing like collee freshman about evolution. Keith law comes off as nearly as big a douche as schilling.

Nope. In an argument like this, completely ignoring facts makes you the biggest douche possible, with no one else on the other side of the argument even in the discussion, regardless of how much of an ahole they may come off as.

It wasn't an argument, it was one idiotic meathead religious fundamentalist attempting to use his bully pulpit while sticking fingers in his ears. Law simply pointed out some of Schilling's most obvious stupid points and did so in a much more sedated way than was necessary when addressing neanderthals like Schilling.

The worst part of reading about this is finding out Law might be responsible for @OldHossRadbourn.

ESPN said that the evolution stuff is not why Law was suspended, fwiw

Yeah, but they really need to say what he WAS suspended for.

For PR purposes they sure do. Until then, it looks pretty bad that Law was suspended, and Schilling wasn't. Legally, of course they don't have to say anything...but that's not what I'm talking about.
