I can definitely see Lake up before Sept. I think he has passed Sappelt and Jackson and maybe Bogusevic as the first OF to get called up. He's definitely ahead of Stewart and likely Vitters to get called up at 3B also. Versatile and the FO likes him.

I think it depends on what they need. If they're looking for a body to fill in, due to injury or trade, Bogusevic or Sappelt' are the likely choices. Bogusevic is essentially here as a spare part, and Sappelt may have sucked his way out of any future role, even as a 4th-5th OF.Jackson and Lake are both going to be used more cautiously as both figure into the future.

Yeah, I think it depends on who gets traded at the deadline.

Neither Lake nor Jackson are can't miss guys that u risk ruining if u bring them up for 3 weeks. I think anything u get from either is a bonus. So yo-yoing them is ok by me to some extent. Dont see the point of wasting time on Bogusevic at this point. Sappelt is a different story but one that has been read before.

Brett Jackson has fallen so far that he's one of LLF's guys now.

Sorry. Wasn't thinking in terms of September. I thought you meant if the need for a body arrises, and one that wouldn't necessarily see much PT at that. If we're talking September, or even July/August once some starting players have been moved, then Lake or Jackson would be the guys.

Javier Baez took 2 walks in the second game of the double header.

If you'll excuse me I need to go get a drink so I can spit it out.

He's like 2 months from WSR suggesting the Cubs take a flier on him.

I realize this is part of the flaw in OPS, but Baez (.325/.511, .836) now has a higher OPS than Soler (.352/.481, .833).

Over the past 10 games, Soler: .211/.256/.316/.572 and Baez: .333/.432/.639/1.071. That probably has more to do with it that the stat itself.

Arismendy Alcantara's previous career high in BBs was 19. He's at 26 already this season.

So what's his ceiling? How excited should I be on him?

Wet Blanket Facts: Despite OPSing 1.071 over his last 10 including tonight, Baez struck out at a clip of 32.4%

Are there any concerns that Lake made 5 errors in the last two days? Or is that a non-issue?

Still haven't heard much on his defense this year, but I'd say best case is a Jimmy Rollins type career. His best value to us is either at 2B or a very key part of a pretty major trade. A trade of him and Vogelbach, two guys blocked at our major league level, is starting to look like it'd bring us an excellent return.

I think it's just a matter of time before they don't even bother having him play in the infield.

Depends, do you find a shortstop who's on pace to hit 20+ homers and steal 35+ bases at over 90% accuracy while in 600 PAs as a 21 year old in AA exciting?

I do, is this a fluke start though? I guess that's more my worry with him. Is this SSS, or is he improving by leaps and bounds?

I think what he has done so far is definitely signs of improvements/growth and relatively sustainable. I haven't looked them up in a while but I don't think he is posting any underlying numbers (babip, ld%, k%, hr/fb, etc) that point to major regression or anything.

Was Alcantara an Int. FA signing or how was he signed/acquired?

Yes, Alcantara was an IFA. He was signed out of the Dominican in 2008.

He was an IFA. Can't remember, but think he signed for under or right at 100k. Definitely wasn't a major bonus guy though.
