@KendallRogersPG The #Cubs take #Mizzou LHP Rob Zastryzny. That's a heck of a pick. He was incredible at the #SEC tourney in front of scouts. Up to 95.

Ok, that's interesting.

I should know better than to listen to Mayo's opinion.

Some of these teams should be embarrassed about trotting non-English speakers up to the podium.

I want to see the short guy again.

Rob Zastryzny...2-9 record with a 3.38 ERA this year. Perfect for the Cubs as this kid is already use to getting no run support.

I'd say this about Astacio and Cruz. It's like 1st grade reading right now.

BA:

Though Zastryzny won just two of his first 11 starts this spring as Missouri got a rude welcome to the Southeastern Conference, scouts aren't holding that against him. A lefthander who can really pitch with his fastball, he should go in the first three rounds. Zastrzyny effortlessly adds and subtracts from his fastball, usually sitting around 90 mph but capable of dropping down to 86 or elevating four-seamers up in the zone at 95. The 6-foot-3, 193-pounder can locate his fastball to either side of the plate and gets good angle, which helps it play up further. His most reliable secondary pitch is his changeup, which shows flashes of being a plus offering. His breaking ball is less consistent, as he will switch between a slider and curveball. Zastryzny throws strikes but will need to refine his command in pro ball.

well what a crappy draft. I was hoping if they took Bryant that at least they took him at a deal and could overslot with this pick. *sigh*

He signs for under slot and we throw that money at Bryant, right?

Good lord, I hope not. Byron Buxton only got 6 mill last year as the second pick. If Bryant isn't underslotted somewhat, we overpaid him.

I think people say it every year, but on paper, it looks like Jack Zduriencik and Co. are having another solid draft again. DJ Peterson and Wilson? Gives them some sorely needed offensive talent.

Also like what the Padres have done with Renfroe and little Peterson.

Well what happened to drafting impact guys? This guy has 5th starter written all over him.

That's a bit overdoing it. I'm not huge on the pick, but he's got more of a ceiling than the Brooks Raley/Chris Rusin's of the world. He looks like he has mid-rotation ceiling, so there's some hope there. And lefties with some power stuff but an understanding of mixing speeds are nice.

Loads of talent, but iirc, stanford screwed with his swing, which messed him up.
