Probable Starters

Daytona: LHP Kyler Burke (10 IP, 3.60 FIP, 0.90 ERA, 7 K, 4 BB)

I know Kyler Burke isn't age appropriate for Daytona, but is he someone to keep an eye on for a big league bullpen spot? Even though he's a little older, there is not much mileage on his arm.

I always thought so. I've heard mid-to-high 90s with a good breaking ball....when out of the pen. I've alwaysfigured he was starting to get the innings under his belt. But his calling could be as a late inning reliever. I wouldn't be completely surprised if he moved to AA at some point this season and got a Sept callup.

Wouldn't the age factor not apply as much when dealing with a major position change? Seems like he's been here for ages, but he's only been pitching for a year and a half.

Age is still a factor. Another couple years in the minors and u are talking about a 27-year old past most of his prime years and with much less long term projection.

@CubsDen: RT @bigjohnsonblog Just talked to @albertalmora, says dehydration caused his hammy troubles the past few days, back in the lineup tonight.

baez walked, although it appears that the opposing pitchers have no idea what they're doing tonight. daytona have 9 walks and 2 hbp in 4 innings. soler is 1-1 with 2 walks, a SB and 3 runs. geiger hit a home run.

Hate to think of what Baez might have swung at in the first. Struck out after 2 walks to start the game. Also before Soler's single and Geiger's HR.

Daytona hasn't been able to hold it's 7-1 lead.

Suarez is up from XST, walks 4 in his inning.

Soler has scored 4 runs.

For Kane, Reggie Golden got his first hit. Almora playing, 0-4 thus far.

Javy HBP twice tonight. Those don't count for your OBP though, right?

those are on base per PA for OBP.

Ok, thought they should. Anyways he found his way on base tonight three times so far with no hits.

Lake hit 3 doubles yesterday while playing at 3B. Trey Lang struck out 5 in 3.2 but he walked 5 too.

In Thursday's intrasquad game Anthony Prieto (3 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 2 K) and Duane Underwood (4 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 4 K) dominated. Armando Rivero also threw a scoreless and hitless inning, striking out 2 and walking 1.
