Can you build a deal for Aldridge or Love around Butler, Mirotic, and the Charlotte pick? Portland has no use for Deng with Batum in the fold.

I'm assuming Taj would have to be included as well to make money match.

Rose/Hinrich

Belineli/Hinrich

Deng

LA/?/Thomas

Noah/?

Doesn't seem like it improves us that much and trades away all our assets. I think I'd stand pat and hope Love opts out unless something else comes up that improves us more drastically.

And I dont think the Blazers do this deal anyway.

I don't see any deal that nets us Aldridge or Love, right now at least. Strange as it sounds, teams just don't wanna trade offensively competent big men until their back is against the wall.

The Thomas Robinson update is interesting. It would be a team that like TRob more than the 20th pick, but the doesn't have cap space, a TPE, or expiring to meet Houston's needs.

Then they have to have something that has guaranteed salary, is more attractive than the #20, and is likely to be combined with something else. Most obvious guess is as extension onto a Deng deal. Cavs don't meet the criteria, but I think the Cats and Wizards may, depending on how much truth there is to the Deng for lotto pick rumors.

With all that being said if TRob is part of a larger deal I think it will have to be a 3 team trade and not separate deals. So needless to say it could fall apart. Also if it involves Deng I wouldn't be surprised if it was contingent on an extension which derails any deal before it even starts.

If nothing happens, Bulls take Hardaway Jr at #20.

that makes us way better, and we have to accept that taj looks like a bad contract right now.

Has there been much improvement in his overall game these past few years?

Anybody follow prep ball close enough to know how good the 2015 draft class will be? Because that unprotected pick just keeps looking better and better.

@WojYahooNBA 1m

Could turn out to be huge day for IU basketball: Oladipo's strong at No. 2 for Orlando and momentum's growing for Zeller at 4 to Charlotte.

Been pretty quit on the rumor front for the Bulls on this draft day. Anyone got anything? Make something up if you have to.

Sorry, no rumors, just this:

Williams/Johnson/Pierce/Garnett/Lopez would be a pretty solid starting 5 for the next year or 2 (if they can all stay healthy).

Yeah I don't know. I don't think it gets them much closer to a championship. I think it would be a stupid trade for Brooklyn.

I don't think they have a great chance of a championship even if they do it, but it's pretty much the only chance they have. No one if taking on that Wallace contract without major compensation, and they're already capped out from adding any other significant talent. Pierce and Garnett are major upgrades from Wallace and Humphries, even if it's only for 1 year (Wallace in particular was terrible last year). It just depends on if the ability to go for it is worth 3 first round picks or not.

First round picks in the 20s are near worthless. That 3rd one could be valuable I guess.(assuming they're '13, '15, '17)

I think that sort of approach is broadly correct for the Celtics. What value is there in eeking out another playoff appearance on the backs of Pierce and KG? They should hoard picks, cap space, and be as terrible as possible for the 2014 draft.

I don't know if the timing of the draft picks is affected by Atlanta being able to swap first round picks with Brooklyn in 2014 or 2015. It's possible the picks might end up being later because of that, and who knows what Brooklyn might look like by then. Especially after years like 2015-2016 where they are paying 62 million to just Williams, Johnson, and Lopez. If Pierce and Garnett happen to retire before then, that year could get ugly for them.

NBA trades are a nightmare to figure out, but I'd have to think trading Pierce and Garnett separately would bring a better return. I just hate acquiring draft picks from good teams. It's a waste.

Depends on the time horizon. For example, the Cavs still have the Heat's 1st rounder in 2015 from the LeBron sign-and-trade, which might become a pretty good asset if LeBron opts out and Wade doesn't find the fountain of youth. It's very much a toss-up though, and less than that if you're dealing with a team that knows what it's doing(San Antonio, OKC) or will forever chase contention at all costs(Lakers).

The Nets first round pick in 2017 certainly holds potential to be valuable. KG/Pierce will be retired, Williams/Lopez/Johnson will all be out of their contracts and/or on the way decline.

Seems like Portland seem stuck on getting Noah if we are getting LA. I can't help lament the fact that we didn't match on Asik.

PF Boozer

SF Deng

C Aldridge

SG Butler

PG Rose

w/ Asik moving in @ C and LA going to the 4 for defense is pretty damn sexy

I think they paid the wrong guy.

Probably but i also think Taj is a lot better than he played most of last year. Dude was battling several injuries.
