I expect that once the smoke clears, Travis Wood will be the type of pitcher that your average big league team would love as their 3 starter.

I'm not going into the "No. X starter" stuff. Wood is an average-ish starting pitcher, and I love that about him. But he's been insanely lucky, including today when he's not pitched particularly well (something J.D. mentioned as well) but has gotten away with it.

 

I do love that he adds a little value with his bat.

I just noticed all the empty seats when the camera panned for the Sweeney home run. What is going on? It is a beautiful Sunday afternoon and the Cubs are actually playing pretty good baseball. Why are people not going to these games?
