Random question: what are the whereabouts of that Carenno fellow we got for Jeff Baker?

He was placed on the DL at the end of spring. Not sure what his injury was or if it's long-term because he isn't on any rosters.

Pre-existing condition? That would explain why we got him for Jeff Baker.

Marco Hernandez double. Hope he's heating up.

That's my thought as well. That he may have been damaged goods when he was aquired. It didn't take long for him to wind up hurt.

But if so, we were likely well aware of it all along. For a month of Jeff Baker, we really couldn't lose.

Amaya has added a triple and Vogelbach a double. Also, there's this:

@CubsDen: Best hitter today is Marco Hernandez.  Took 96 right back up the middle earlier. Was right on it.

Szczur with a .301/.370/.385 slash line along with 13 SB, 2 HR, 9.3% bb rate and 13% k rate. Do you think he gets time in Iowa this year?

I'd be pretty surprised if he didn't.

Agreed. I still hold out some hope that, like Samardzija, his career path will make him a late bloomer.

Like Samardzija, I'm going to remain curmudgeonly on him until I absolutely have no other choice.

I think at best, Szczur is a Darwin Barney type in the OF. Low-offense era and good defense combine to mean you can live with him if you have to, but you'd rather have someone better.

Woah. Rock struck out in all 4 at bats in the first game. His K rate is becoming borderline alarming (not that this wasn't kinda expected).

Just found out that Trey Martin is done for the season with his shoulder injury.

Guessing the only reason Dunston didn't come up is because Almora is close to being ready.

No Baez tonight, and if I look up one more time to see Krist, Andreoli, and Geiger accounting for all of Daytona's hits i'm going to puke.
