I challenge Nuts&Gum or anyone else to tell me with a straight face that what just happened happens to any team other than the Cubs.

You just can't.

It happens to every other team other than the Cubs.

You've got to be [expletive] kidding me.

I can't imagine what you'd be like if you were fan of one of the many teams that has been consistently far worse than the Cubs for the past 20 years.

It's more than just losing. It's coming to the cusp of winning so many times and failing every time. The only comparable recent situation is the 2011 Rangers World Series.

This was a throw away game in may of a throw away season. Just like the 2011 World Series.

In the alternate universe where the Cubs go down 1-2-3 in the 9th.

Typical Cubs, don't even put up a fight.

I prefer what actually happened, it was exciting at least.

Not in this case where they were facing one of the more dominant closers in the league, but OK.

I don't only because...

I have Aroldis Chapman. So not only do the Cubs not even win the game, but my fantasy team took a hit as well.

Ok, well OBVIOUSLY, the 2011 World Series is far, far more heartbreaking but if I said "no other team snatches defeat from the jaws of victory as often" or something, some one would have brought it up.

The most frustrating part is that this is a team with fairly low expectations anyway and they should really be close to .500, and they're losing not because they're getting blown out, but because nothing goes their way.

I believe the correct answer is that assuming that none of us follow any other bad teams closely, we're unaware of how often they lose in the heartbreaking, sometimes comical fashion in which the Cubs often do.

If you really think that the Cubs are suffering from bad luck then you should just stop bitching because the luck will almost certain correct itself over the last 133 games.

That's not correct. You know what you see watching sports highlight shows? Teams losing close games on a daily basis.

A few days ago, the Angels blew a 7-2 lead in the 8th & 9th inning. Then they blew a one run lead in the 15th(!). Then lost on a walkoff in the 19th inning.

Only the Cubs.
