That seems much more the 2B's fault than Pujols. If he'd been where he was supposed to be they get the out.

On a surprise push bunt the second baseman is never going to make it to first in time. Pujols 1) should have let the pitcher(is that Wilson?) field the ball since there was not much chance of Wilson making it to the bag; and 2) known not to blindly throw the ball because that situation is a classic J-drill when he is the person fielding it. He has to know that the pitcher isn't covering because he just shooed him away from the ball.

He also clearly looks toward the bag before releasing the ball and should've been able to realize the 2B would've never been able to make it over in time to receive the throw. You don't even see the 2B show up in the frame until the ball is well in foul territory.

It's obnoxious to be sure, but he's still miles easier to tolerate than Hawk, imo.

 

 

Really, we've just been spoiled when it comes to announcers. It's a sea of mediocrity and worse out there.

I was really hoping so too, but apparently it was to a fan(s) behind the dugout area that were giving him [expletive] all game.
