BR has his dWAR at 2.3 this year, which means they just REALLY love his arm (and to be fair, that gif isn't indicative of where most of his defensive problems have been) or it just shows how bonkers defensive metrics are at this point.

thats great. Looks like he tried to put the breaks on the throw and the ball got out anyway. I do that in softball about once a game.

He's slugging .500 so far in the second half.

July: .288 .403 .423 .826

August: .364 .545 .545 1.091

With 18 walks.

Definitely trending in the right direction...

he knew the runner would be safe so he took the opportunity to make lazy starlin castro field an extra grounder for practice

I love the 3rd base coach standing there like he can't believe that just happened.

"As soon as it was hit, [brian Duensing] goes, 'Come on. Punch me. Punch me,' " [Jared] Burton recounted proudly. "I gave him the right hook and knocked him down."

Burton intentionally whiffed the punch, but was able to sell it perfectly to the camera capturing the home run. It should be noted that the Twins' relief pitchers have been trying to execute this for a year, and made a couple failed attempts last season that apparently didn't make it on camera.

Yes, Puig looks odd throwing the ball because he sort or "wrists" it, but is it really THAT amazing? It's not like it's that far of a throw....I just don't get all the hype over it. Ichiro and Vlad have done far better.

Maybe, but he actually made the throw and very few people can do it today.

Are you under the weird impression that players used to throw harder?

I am under the impression that very few people can make that throw who are in the league now.
