How does one guy who isn't someone like, say, Trout improve odds like that so dramatically? Are they assuming it signals the Cubs making other significant moves?

Christ, math is not my friend. How does one guy who isn't someone like, say, Trout improve odds like that so dramatically?

because betting odds are based on the betting public and the cubs have a lot of fans who get really excited about things like this

they had already gone up significantly from the maddon hiring

Yeah it's not probability of them winning, it's what the betting majority is doing. There's a lot of idiot Cub fans out there who probably put money on them after this and it moved the odds, also I'd guess there's people every year who bet on the Cubs just in case it's the year so they can say they bet on them when they finally do it. IIRC the Cubs betting odds are usually not in line with what's statistically probable for winning because of the amount of dumb money on them.

Scarily, I always remember that without any hesitation.

I've read it 5 times now and still have no recollection.

All I remember is that it was Rocky Cherry and someone else, and I was only sad to see Cherry go because of the name.

Jake Renshaw. I forgot one half of the legendary Cherry Pie was in that deal

Just realized there's enough context clues in that picture to confirm, even without knowing when Trachsel was on the team, that it was either 2006 or 07. And one more that makes it slightly more likely to be 07 than 06 (half-kidding about this one).

It reminds all the old ladies visiting from Iowa that the Cubs exist and it'd be fun to put down $10 on them to win the WS.

Scott Moore, who i see was 23 and OPSing .900 at Iowa

I really liked him. Forgot he was in that too. Renshaw was the PTBNL that BR didn't bother updating the trade for.

Before '07. No underarmor ad. What are the others?

It's definitely 07. The door where it'd be visible is just open, I think.
