Yeah Chamblee made the argument he took the ball farther back to have a more comfortable swing with the club he wanted to use. I suppose that could be considered cheating. But he is paying quite a price.

Golf Channel is really reaching here. They have someone analyzing his putting stroke on the practice green.

i really really hate white people

It's so true.

They just said the rules officials originally said no harm no foul but last night a viewer, just a fan, called the club after an interview Tiger gave to espn. Crazy. Can you just call up Augusta and say hey, that guy cheated!?

And I can't believe it takes a fan to do that for something to happen.

Bingo... and it was like at 10 PM when that fan called in so like 3-4 hrs after Tiger have been finished with his round. It's disgusting how Masters officials been handling things so far this week. They should've caught what Tiger said in the interview like immediately and give him the penalty before he got to sign that scorecard.

Don't get me started on the Guan ordeal. Do the officials realized he played with a guy who shot a 80 and 84? I know it was Ben Crenshaw, but those scores are going to slow your group down.

Yes Tiger took an incorrect drop. A lot of people noticed it right away. I wonder if the rules committee didn't know it too and are trying to cover their butts once it was well publicized. But the illegal drop and the fact Tiger did it to gain an advantage are assessed into one penalty. He does not need to withdraw. You can't slap the Masters in the face, especially when the penalty as the Masters explained it was perfectly legit. I don't know why Tiger thought he could drop backwards. His caddie has to know that rule. This was a 4 shot swing possibly and could ruin his tournament. Punishment enough.

I really dislike Brandel Chamblee. Too much hate for Tiger. Just an old angry man like Terry Boers. Tiger must have whipped Brandel a few years back.

I agree with you having heard the entire explanation from the club. They had to know right away. This whole thing is shady.

And Tiger admitted to espn that he was trying to gain an advantage. That is cheating.

So in theory is there anything stopping someone from breaking down thousands of hours of televised golf footage to find guys committing violations and screwing up tournaments years after the fact?

The more I think about it, the rule committee isn't trying to pull anything over us. Tiger did take a look at the drop area and then walk back. Rules official probably didn't remember exactly the original spot. Tiger did, but no one knew how far back he dropped until after scorecard signed.

Not after trophy presentation. They gotta change the rule - no post-scorecard-signing penalties should be enforced.

I'd love to see tiger go low today and win. Hopefully they set it up tough.

The pin placements are basically the same each year on each day of the tournament. For example, hole 12 will have a right front pin placement today, which is very narrow and balls with any significant spin that land short of the pin can end up in the water.

And the course is tough in general. The saving grace this week has been the fairly calm weather. Add some swirling wind to this course and it doesn't get much tougher than Augusta National.

That's what Tiger publicly said. 2 yards back and he won't hit the stick. Ruined his tournament for him.

No one going low today. Tiger fading. Can't hit the ball in the fairway.

Kind of shitty that some unbelievably bad luck on an amazing shot probably costs Tiger the tournament or at least a great shot at the win down the stretch.
