Seems like they might want to apply some of that Dynamic Pricing magic to Opening Day:

Home Opener (Not Opening Day) on a Monday Afternoon+Low Expectations+Unseasonably Cold Weather+Inflated Ticket Prices=Low Attendance Edited by Cubswin11

Also of note, it's the home opener and not Opening Day, which is all the more reason people wouldn't be super jazzed to take off work Monday afternoon. Especially when for the price of their ticket they can get 2 tickets, parking, and concessions/beers to the game the next night.

Would be first Opening Day non-sellout since 1997. Early in a certain previous President's tenure, iirc...

I wonder what gave them a shot in the arm in 98... the 97 team was awful.

FWIW, I'll be there... haven't missed one since 06.

98 they opened at Wrigley on a Friday, guessing that helped. Opening day was like 3-4 days earlier in Florida

I think he meant in terms of Opening Day attendance. None of that happened until after Opening Day 1998.

The last game I actually went to was Opening Day 2010. Time for my epic return.

That's not operating on dual fronts as a fan [-X

Not a smart move to have tickets priced the way they are for this. This is still considered a rebuilding year. The days when people packed Wrigley for the sake of going to Wrigley are over. People want to see winning baseball and that hasn't happened for awhile. Until the team proves they can win I think the front office needs to take a look at other ways to bring people to the ballpark. Reduced tickets is a start.
