I'd love to see FGCU beat Florida. Channel their baseball team, which swept a then top-10 Florida at Gainesville last month.

It is going to be extremely tough for Illinois to win this game without any semblance of an inside game.

 

 

Seems they're trying to get Egwu going, he's shot quite a bit. They might be doing quite a bit better if he could actually hit a shot.

 

Looks like the Illini are well into one of their patented couldn't a open shot if their live's depended on it runs.

That does appear to have been the gameplan, but it isn't working and I'm not sure they will stick with it. When all else fails, they revert to firing up 3's.

 

Yeah, they need to continue to drive the ball. They're much better from 3 when they're kicking the ball out and it's a rhythm shot.

Terrible call, Abrams has the right to that space. That's a no call, all day.

 

Think the officiating been a little one sided 6 fouls on the Illini compared to only 2 against Miami.

that and both 2nd fouls on Richardson and Griffey... a few bad calls...

 

Seems to be the trend in the tourney, the higher seeded team has had a clear advantage in fouls.

This Florida Gulf Coast thing is crazy. The school opened in 1997! It now has 12k students. Also Chris Sale and Casey Coleman are alums

Haha, one is not like the other.

 

Also, their baseball team is ranked in the top 25 this year for the first time ever.

Bertrand definitely got away with a foul when they called that held ball... but it didn't pay off at all at the other end... and Miami keeps slapping the ball out of the hands of the post players down low...

So is Howland fired or not?

 

UCLA statement: Contrary to multiple media reports this evening, UCLA has not fired men’s basketball coach Ben Howland.

 

Oh, he's out. The AD is just upset he was beaten to the punch on this, given the nature of the announcement, and possibly are trying to negotiate a softer buyout.

 

UCLA officially announces Howland is out.
