Hoffman exactly where I expected. Go grab Touki with your next pick and you have 2 potential monsters. Edited by Tryptamine

I'll trust the others that post here on this pick before throwing out an opinion. I know nothing about HS or College baseball prospects.

However I will point out, that the negative reactions are hilarious. Especially JoseHernandez18's reaction.

We didn't really just draft Schwarber. We drafted Schwarber and kept a million or so bucks in reserve to grab an overslot pitcher or two. We can't really evaluate this pick until we see who those pitchers are.

Cool, we're not going to spend money on the draft now either. Thanks Ricketts fam, at least they've opened up the Spring and Summer for other activities.

That's not what they're doing.

He's Gordon Wittemeyer on the down low.

Blue Jays are dumb and going to regret the Hoffman pick.

Or look like geniuses in a couple years. Probably 70/30 odds on regret, though.

McLeod said Schwarber 2nd on board behind Aiken

Well, I hope they already have an agreement on paper as to what they are going to sign him for because that would be a pretty stupid thing to say if you hope to underslot him.

It's clear from his other comments that they have an agreement.

I'll guess 3-3.5 mill on Schwarber. My hope is 2.5 though, as its very possible he would slipped out of the top 15.

Wow, since you already have it penciled in, where is Kyle going to play? He's not a MLB catcher, Rizzo has 1B locked up into the next decade, and i have a hard time seeing that big body running around a Major League outfield.

Yeah, you have no clue how the draft works, just stop watching.

Theoyer obviously believe that he can stick in the OF. If they didn't believe that he wouldn't have been drafted.

@keithlaw: Cubs likely to get Jack Flaherty, HS RHP from Harvard-Westlake, at pick 45 if someone like STL doesn't grab him first.

In other words, the Cardinals will pick him.

They've also been linked to overslot prep RHPs Michael Kopech and Joey Gatto.

I wouldn't be shocked of they also like overslot candidates like LHP Mac Marshall and RHPs Dylan Cease and Keaton McKinney. They'll have options to overslot and get intriguing talent.

Well, a lot of pro scouts seem to think he'll be about average in left defensively. I'll listen to them. And he still has a shot, though not a good one, to stick at catcher. He's apparently a good receiver, just not going to throw out a lot of base stealers.

Brewers with the first jaw-dropping surprise pick. Good for the Cubs, allows better talent to fall to 45.

Medeiros at 12, Turner going 13.

Personally, TJS or not, I want Cease more than any of the potential over slot guys. I like Kopech a good amount too.
