Lol The first thing Harold said about Gordon was that he grew up in the dugout

his mother had nick in a water birth in husband tom's ice bath

This might not be the best comp to make, but the guy he sort of makes me think of, if he stays at catcher, is Matt LeCroy. Before people cream me for that comp, LeCroy actually had a decent bat there for a few years, but then wore down.

Yay. We get to watch the big club suck balls so we can draft near the top, and then the FO decides to....under-slot. So much for "McLeod LOVES Alex Jackson."

Shows how connected ABTY or whatever his name really is.

The McLeod loves Alex Jackson has really taken on a life of it's own. It was a throwaway comment from a guy who many believe throws [expletive] at the wall, heard second hand from other people he said he knew, over a year ago. You'd think McCleod was directly quoted or something from how people talk about it.

A pretty disappointing pick. A bat with no position is nothing to get excited about. Seems like most reports say he won't stick behind the plate and his defense in left field is substandard.

Not sure if it played any role or not, but Indiana's baseball coach Tracy Smith is a former Cubs minor leaguer and the a cubs sent him to MLB scout school after his playing career.

He was also Miami (OH)'s coach before going to Indiana, which probably explains why Schwarber came to Indiana in the first place considering he grew up 45 minutes away from Miami.

I thought I remembered him laying it on pretty thick with Jackson. "Everyone knows McLeod's favorite prospect he's ever scouted is Jackson" or something to that extent. I could be wrong though. Either way, just another thing he's wrong on, but lets thank him for sharing!

you do understand that they go under-slot at this point so that they can go over-slot later in the draft, right?

@keithlaw: Cubs likely to get Jack Flaherty, HS RHP from Harvard-Westlake, at pick 45 if someone like STL doesn't grab him first.

How does Harold Reynolds have a job? The Cubs should have taken Alex Jackson as a high school bat because he played with Ken Griffey Jr who had not trouble hitting and moving to the majors fast...

Cool, we're not going to spend money on the draft now either. Thanks Ricketts fam, at least they've opened up the Spring and Summer for other activities.

Yes, I do understand that. And no need to be passive-aggressive. if you want to call me an idiot for not liking this pick, just call me one.

Well, that would be against the board rules, so let's just call it an uneducated opinion.

That's not what they're doing.
