Bears signed DE Kyle Moore. He's 26, had 3 sacks last year and played for Buffalo. Good depth, creates competition anyway. Nail in the coffin on Idonije not returning?

I think these combined moves closes the door on Idonije. I thought he had a chance to come back with the intent to play him more at DT for depth than DE. I still think the Bears are drafting DT, and possibly very early, to get another potential long-term option there in case something can't be worked out with Melton.

Fluellen made a couple plays in Detroit. He's OK. Nothing special obviously. Good 4th guy in the rotation. Moore, I really like. He has some upside at 26 and he has a long lanky frame. Could be a 5 sack guy if he gets on the field a decent amount of plays. Which is solid for a 4th DE. I definitely like him more than Turk McBride who they signed earlier this offseason.

Walt's latest mock has the Bears getting Warmack at 20, Arthur Brown in R2 and Marquise Goodwin in R4. I noticed he had Tyrann Mathieu going right after Goodwin. Would he be a guy you'd want the Bears to look at? I feel like he could step in at the nickel and make plays... Small guy but a good playmaker and not afraid to put his head in there and make tackles

Brandon Marshall: Bears embracing the change

Eight days ago, Bears receiver Brandon Marshall and tight end Martellus Bennett convened at Marshall’s home hours after getting their new offensive playbook on team-issued iPads. That evening, the two pulled different-colored pieces from board games, simulated some formations and plays, then quizzed one another.

‘‘Oh, my gosh, I’m in love with it,’’ Marshall told the Sun-Times. ‘‘Martellus and I sat down and went through the formational stuff and started challenging each other. It was exciting to go through, and it’s pretty cool to have a partner.’’

Mostly a puff piece outside of this:

Marshall had arthroscopic surgery on his hip Jan. 15. The typical timetable for recovery is six to seven weeks, but Marshall wanted to take advantage of the offseason schedule.

‘‘You can double that because you can afford to be cautious,’’ said Marshall, who started running in a pool two weeks ago and on a field last week. ‘‘It’s about working smarter. . . . We don’t play games until September. Feeling really good. As long as I’m in top shape then, that’s all that matters.’’

It's never been retired.

‘‘I talked to Mike Singletary and told him that we hadn’t assigned 50 to anybody since he retired and that we needed to put it back in circulation,’’ chairman George McCaskey told the Bears’ website. ‘‘He said he wasn’t aware that it hadn’t been assigned, that he’s got no problem with it, and he’s perfectly fine with it.”

For me, 100% yes.

I'd take Goodwin over Mathieu but if the Bears walked away from rounds one and two with Warmack and Brown, I probably wouldn't care if they drafted just QBs the rest of the way. That'd be an incredible haul.

That would be a beautiful scenario. Here's to hoping.

I'd love to grab Mathieu in the 4th, but would have to go with Goodwin over him as well.

Martellus being Martellus

"@mjwtruth: @JoeGryffindor how you like Seattle adding Antoine Winfield to that defense?" Why would I give a [expletive]? Lol.

Posted this in the draft thread too, but if anyone wants a fun draft sim to hold you over until the real draft, check out www.first-pick.com

Seemed a bit unrealistic, but you could even have more fun if you were a total draft junkie and tracked every picks rather than skipping ahead to your picks.

Got an interesting situation here....

It’s the Bears turn and got an offer from 49ers:

20th and 50th pick

for

31st, 34th, 61st, and 93rd

Some of the players left on the board for the Bears: Olgetree, Werner, Warmack, Ansah, Cooper, Te’o, and Richardson. Do you pick one of these guys or do the trade and hope one of these guys make it to 31st?

Just curious as to what you guys would do here. I can see both side on this and right now I’m leaning towards the trade as an extra 2nd and 3rd outweighs drafting a stud like Warmack.

Go for it. Based on the several i've ran you can still get an impact at 31.

Yeah, one of that group will still be there. I can't hit 4000 points, no matter what I do. On the other hand, I drafted 6 punters and scored 600ish......

I'm more excited about this draft than I've been in awhile. There are a lot of ways we can go.

Just make solid value picks and we'll be fine.

First time in a long time we can actually just take the best available player without having to address a major need.
