I think SNTS and his pedigree as a top 10 pick are helping Loux.

Not gonna lie. That is a part of it for me. That, and adding someone with what were at draft time, a good/great fastball and change with our pitching development, he could add that third pitch and be a good starter. He'll suffer a fall faster than McNutt, if he doesn't come out of the gate strong though. If I recall there were rumors of torn labrum, and an elbow that forecast a TJ surgery in his near future. Has either of those been dealt with? If not, why not TJ now?

That is my reasoning as well. You'd think that Hayden Simpson would get more consideration as a top 20 pick. I kid. However, I guess that makes it a bit surprising that McNutt, who's the same age as Loux isn't gettying any votes based off of his status as a top 50 prospect. I know the past few years were rough for him, but we forget how ridiculous he was at the lower levels. When we gave up Archer over him in the Garza trade, few people thought twice.

Still, like a lot of the Hendry era prospects, 2013 will be a big year for him in regards to his future with the organization.

I think with McNutt, some people just don't rank pen arms as high as starting arms, and at this stage, McNutt looks like a pen arm (I certainly fall in the camp of docking pen guys vs. starters).

I never loved McNutt when he tore up the rankings a couple years back (always had Archer ahead of him). Thought injuries made McNutt a bit under-the-radar last year. The reality is, he's never had that third pitch that was quality enough and never had enough consistency on the breaking ball as a starter to really dominate off the fastball/breaking ball combination. He could still turn it around, but at this stage, he really feels like a pen arm, and that's why he's a fair bits down for me. I can see a case for top 20 ... then again, I'm not sure I would take McNutt over Alberto Cabrera, who I think is a pen arm, and Cabrera is borderline top 20 for me.

I typically don't rank ceiling pen arms as high, unless, the system as a whole is weak on talent likely to reach the majors. Loux still has a chance as a starter, and with different coaching, it may still be realistic, albeit, not very likely. McNutt, for whatever reason, stalled out as a starter, and now has a ceiling of a middle of the pen arm. If we had just acquired McNutt, after his first sub-hype season, I'd be just as high on him. But it wouldn't take long for SNTS syndrome to wear off.

With the closeness of this one, how about a runoff of Underwood, Szczur, and Torreyes for 14, 15, and 16?

I think Alcantra might beat Torreyes Head-to Head. Just take The top two.

Yeah you could actually probably do run-offs for 14-15 and 16-17

Just put the three in a runoff for #14 and put up a new poll for #15

I like SSR's suggestion. Plus, you'd have to wait out the runoff for 14, because you wouldn't know who was available for 15.

I know I'm docking him 10 spots or so because of the injury. If not for that concern, I'd have him higher than any pitcher in our system not named Vizcaino, Paniagua, or Johnson.

I feel that way too. If I was told that there are solid medical reasons to think that he's completely healed and that he has no more injury risk than any other young arm, I'd have him up in my top ten. Pre-injury, I had him as the top guy in our system (this being pre-draft, pre-Vizcaino, pre-Paniagua....)

I don't understand how Szczur could be ranked higher than Alcantara at this point. Alcantara is 2 years younger, has a better defensive profile, and had nearly the same OPS in the FSL.
