If Tiny Richardson can put together a few games similar to the awesome one he had last year blocking Clowney, he could shoot up draft boards. I think Seastrunk could move up boards when the combine rolls around due to measurables. I'm also a big Boyd fan. He and Bridgewater are worlds better than any QB in this year's draft.

For those who've followed them at all so far, what are your (very early) thoughts on AJ Johnson and Kurt Maggitt? Any chance either could crack that top 15?

I told Eli that Ryan Nassib thinks he's a durable quarterback. He looked puzzled. "He said I'm adorable?"

Heh, yeah I posted that in the non-playoff talk thread. That's such an Eli thing.

Here are my top prospects for 2014:

1. Jadeveon Clowney, DE, South Carolina

2. Teddy Bridgewater, QB, Louisville

3. Jake Matthews, OT, Texas A&M

4. Marqise Lee, WR, USC

5. Cyrus Kuandijo, OT, Alabama

6. Stephon Tuitt, DE, Notre Dame

7. Taylor Lewan, OT, Michigan

8. Anthony Barr, OLB, UCLA

9. David Fales, QB, San Jose State

10. Louis Nix III, DT, Notre Dame

11. Bradley Robey, CB, Ohio State

12. Sammy Watkins, WR, Clemson

13. Anthony Johnson, DT, Lsu

14. Tajh Boyd QB, Clemson

15. Antonio Richardson, OT, Tennessee

Others: Lache Seastrunk, RB, Baylor; Austin Sefarian-Jenkins, TE, Washington; CJ Mosley, ILB, Alabama; Brett Hundley, QB, UCLA (redshirt sophomore)

I'm not as high on Tajh Boyd as I bet others will be. I'm sure others will have him in their top 5 or 10 to start the season.

Good list. That top 5 is as close to being written in stone as it possibly could be this early. I probably would put Boyd in the same place. I think I like ASJ as a top 15 player.

Tuitt will go top 5. He's a freak.

Sadly Phil Emerys list is nothing like yours

SI's first 2014 mock. Morgan Breslin (don't think he'll be an elite pass rusher at the next level) and Will Sutton (too small) seem top high though I really do like Sutton's game. Kuandijo and Barr too low.

4 first round QBs in a year in which the Bears could conceivably be looking to draft QB. And if they would be doing so, presumably would be drafting in the upper half of the first round.

I can. Unless they were telling him he'd go number 1, he pretty much went when he should have gone.

You beat my edit. When I wrote that, I was assuming that they told him that he'd be a first round pick based on him being at the draft.

Terrible business move.

ESPN and NFL.com have reported the NFL and NFLPA are close to agreeing to move the 2014 draft to May. The target date could be May 15.

I don't think there's anyone that would be happy about that except Roger Goodell as it fits into his plans for world domination

What is the upside of that switch? I hate it but just for personal reasons.

My guess is that the May 15th date would be after most colleges' graduation and then the players can immediately go to camp/OTAs/etc...

They're trying to make the NFL calendar more year round. They'd move free agency up, move the draft back, and stick the combine in between. Also there's a conflict with Radio City Music Hall for next year...Rockettes or something. So this could be a "trial" thing...may only be for next year.

What the NFL draft needs is long legs and tuxedo tails. You say "conflict" I say "perfect combination"
