It's a good thing Brooklyn is such a mild place.

 

Brooklyn's winters are better than Chicagos. And obviously he has a love for NYC that he doesn't have for Chicago.

 

Well yes, NYC winters are about 10 degrees warmer than Chicago's but that still would be cold for someone who has played in Orlando and LA. Since Brooklyn is a legitimate choice for Howard, it's clear his desire to play in a warm climate is BS and your second sentence is the main reason.
