"(Noah) plays the game for the love of it," Robinson said. "If you watch him, he plays with his heart on his sleeve. Me and him, we are kind of similar with our energy."

lol...way to make it about yourself there.

I hate to say it, but just start Nate already. Hinrich managed 0 points, 2 assists and 0 steals in 24 minutes tonight. Why is he even on the court?

Probably because Nate Robinson is terrible.

Lol, Nate Robinson guarding someone for a minute is a stretch. Let alone starter's minutes. I presume you guys are all on board with this division lead? Just let Thibs keep doing his thing because there is no reason they should be this good.

Stick a fork in the Celtics

They just don't care about the regular season.

Last season the Celtics were under .500 at the halfway point of the season. This year, they're at .500 less than 30% in. This is like the 4th consecutive year Sponge has failed at this.

I think the Celtics will do this every year until one year they won't bounce back. Still think this year's Celtics is more talented than last years

PS KC Johnson is saying that the Bulls could cut Nate Robinson soon, before his contract is guaranteed. I guess it would be harder to dump him and Rip to get under the tax this year instead of just Rip.

You'd have to get another PG then right? Or would they just try to make do with Hinrich and Teague?

Playing 4 on 5 would be better than Robinson as the PG

Who cares how much they "care" about the regular season. You can argue Miami doesn't care much either but they still manage one of the best records in the league. It's silly to use that as an excuse and claim that they will be in good shape for the playoffs. The last Celtic championship team had a very good record. I can't think of the last NBA champion that didn't have one of the best regular season records.

Lets face it. The Celtics are done. They have about as much chance of winning it all as the Bulls. Or the bobcats for that matter. It's funny how the homer Bulls fans are so much more realistic about their team than the Celtics fan.

I don't see on the money in that deal would come close to working out. How are the Bulls gonna take on Gasol's salary while only losing Taj's? What do you do with Boozer when you get Gasol?

Heards Thibs on the radio this morning and he was asked about DRose. Said he was right on schedule, not ahead or behind schedule. Then he was asked when they expect him back. Thibs said there was no timetable for his return. So he's on schedule but that schedule doesn't include him returning to the court?

Come on. You should know that there is no point for anyone affiliated with the Bulls to give any realistic news on his progress/projected return date.

Jonathan Givony is watching Real Madrid right now and offered these tweets re: Mirotic:

@DraftExpress Nikola Mirotic could start for half of the teams in the NBA right now. He's that good. Bulls got an absolute steal, IF he ever comes over.

@DraftExpress Because I'm not sure Chicago can/will offer more than Real Madrid. RT @vdelaserna: Why wouldn't he, as soon as his current contract expires?

@DraftExpress Nikola Mirotic's contract doesn't expire until 2016 at the earliest. His NBA buyout is a ridiculous $3 million before that.Doesn't look good

@DraftExpress Something Ive been told could affect Real Madrid's financial situation is a new EU law prohibiting soccer clubs from financing other sports?

@BelgianYouthBB @DraftExpress there's a new system where you can only use money gained from soccer related activities to finance your soccer team (1/2)

@BelgianYouthBB @DraftExpress that's especially bad news for some spanish teams like real and barca who have a large debt, system still in early stages

@DraftExpress Nikola Mirotic w/9 points, 4 rebounds in 7 minutes. Real Madrid has so many weapons its ridiculous. Hopefully he plays more in the 2nd half.

It just doesn't seem like he's ever going to actually come to the NBA.

I don't understand why the money would prevent him from joining the Bulls. If the Bulls 'pay' the buyout (in paraenthsis because I thought I read somewhere that the Bulls couldnt directly buy him out...maybe I'm way off), and then give him the standard rookie deal for his draft slot (which, again I may be way off, is the most he can sign per the previous CBA he was drafted under), and the Bulls are still likely underpaying for his services if he's as good as they say he is.

The Bulls may be cheap, but they arent idiots, if they can get an average starter's production for a rookie contract + $3 million, they would do it without hesitating. What am I missing here?

The obvious answer seems to be because that contract won't be as much as Mirotic can make in Europe, and so he will choose to stay there instead.

Also, I believe the Bulls can only pay up to $1 million for a buyout. So the rest has to come out of his pockets. Maybe the new CBA changed that.

There has to be some other way without pissing off FIBA that the Bulls can have that buyout taken care of. I read RealGM discussing this quite a bit last year but I honestly don't remember what the conclusion was. The one thing in the Bulls favor is, as those tweets pointed out, Real Madrid is stacked relative to their competitition. Mirotic isn't their star, and I don't think they project him to be, even though he's clearly talented. As far as Mirotic's thoughts, I've only seen a few non-quotes from him about his desire to play in the NBA/for the Bulls. It could go either way, some european players show preference for staying on their home continent, while others have a desire to be successful in the most popular league in the world. It took forever to get Rudy Fernandez to come over, and it seemed like from the start he wanted to go back (of course he was kind of bounced around and never given meaningful minutes). Others use the european leagues to develop and come straight to the NBA when given the chance. We'll see how it plays out, but I think that at some point Mirotic will be over, hopefully sooner than it took Sabonis to come over.

Buyout limit used to be 500k I think. There's something in the new CBA about it going up ~250k every year for a few years. Not sure if thats in general or for each year a player is unsigned. You're limited to rookie scale the first two years. After that you lose the rookie exception and you sign with whatever cap space or other exceptions you have, for instance the MLE. At most we'll probably have the mini MLE at that time and maybe a million towards a buyout. I think his buyout does go down each year, which is the good thing and helps.

The best case scenario is he can negotiate a change to the buyout, either to spread it out or reduce it.

To also entice him, we probably have to do a two year deal. So if he does come over just prepare for another potential Asik scenario once its time to match.

Edit to the above:

Buyout only goes up 25k so essentially useless. We're talking 600k at the most. Now the Bulls can still pay the full buyout, it just goes against the cap.

And we'd have to wait 3 years not 2, to no longer be bound by the rookie pay scale, which we need to do to give him an offer enticing enough, considering the buyout and his rookie scale amount.
