For the second straight season, Ryan Braun fell short in his bid for his first Rawlings Gold Glove Award.

Braun was beaten out by Carlos Gonzalez of the Colorado Rockies as the top leftfielder in the National League, as voted on by managers and coaches. Martin Prado of the Atlanta Braves was the third finalist.

This past season, Braun finished seventh in fielding percentage among NL leftfielders at .979. He had six assists and committed six errors. Gonzalez, meanwhile, finished with a .982 fielding percentage, seven assists and four errors.

Interestingly, none of the top four leftfielders as far as fielding percentage in the NL -- Alfonso Soriano of the Chicago Cubs, Jason Kubel of the Arizona Diamondbacks, Ryan Ludwick of the Cincinnati Reds and Matt Holliday of the St. Louis Cardinals -- made the cut as a finalist for the award.

Arizona's Gerardo Parra beat Braun out for the Gold Glove in left field last season, despite Braun finishing with just one error.

The awards show, which is being telecast on ESPN2, began late. Therefore, we're still waiting on how Aramis Ramirez fares at third base.

sorry you don't know words.

Buster Posey and Fernando Rodney win Comeback Players of the Year, respectively.

Using the word would've made a lot more sense had you said "NL and AL Comeback Players of the Year, respectively."

As you used it, the word doesn't really mean or accomplish anything.
