The Vikings and Packers games should be very interesting. Pack are fairly banged up and on the road against maybe the best team in the league in prime time.

According to FO, there are four teams with a more than 90% chance of making the playoffs already after just over 1/4 of the season: Houston (99.5%), Atlanta (99.4%), New England (93.8%) and Baltimore (90.5%)

There's a distinct possibility that there could only be two AFC teams over .500 after this week.

As long as the Texans get to 6-0, I'm happy with the AFC.

Washington is weird. -7 point differential, below .500.

Terrible home record, but winning on the road.

I think the Vikes go in there and take them out.

Oh I just love this....

“It’s definitely on us as players,” an unnamed Packer told Lori Nickel of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “But I think the refs are out to get us this year.”

i'm surprised nobody's posted this yet- a NFC rival GM tore apart the Lions

http://www.profootballweekly.com/2012/10/08/lions-problems-much-deeper-than-awful-special-team

“The one thing that is clear – they are not as close as people have tried to make it seem,” the GM told PFW. “They are a one-dimensional offensive team that if the quarterback (Matthew Stafford) is not on, people are figuring it out. If you take (WR Calvin) Johnson out of the game (one TD through four games, compared to eight TDs at the same stage last season), who else do they have that can beat you?

“They are not a team that I think is ready. If I am going there to take over the job, I am not thinking that is a quick fix.”

“I have listened to the media hype about Suh since he got in the league — what has he done? Even the year he had all those garbage sacks, the guy took a million plays off and got pushed around in the run game. I have never thought he was a very good pro player. I liked him coming out and thought he had a chance. But I also never thought he was going to be the second coming that he was labeled. I am not sure who bestowed that on him, but it is kind of a joke.”

i agree with much of what he says, but not the Mayhew part; going from a 0-16 talent-barren roster to playoffs in 3 years was a minor miracle- but it's fair to question a BPA philosophy in the draft when you're a legitimate contender with obvious holes

Wow, that was quite the dress down. I'd love to know who it was. Overall not a huge fan of PFW, so I'm curious.

Btw, Dan Arkush....Hub's son?

As for why the Lions have the second lowest win projection in the NFC, they have three total teams on their schedule that currently have a losing record. One is Green Bay, and they already lost to one of the other two (Tennessee).

Center Dominic Raiola, in particular, took offense to the GM's comments, telling reporters Tuesday that the executive's remarks were a "coward kind of statement."

"That fires me up. That's taking a shot at the Lions organization. That ain't right. I'm going to say eff 'em. I can't say the word. But I'll say eff 'em," he said, according to Fox Sports Detroit.

"If you don't take that personal, you're in the wrong place. (Schwartz and Mayhew) work hard putting the right talent on the field. They bust their ass doing this," he continued. "It's on us to have their back. The best way to have their back is on the field."

Cliff Avril and Jim Schwartz dismissed the article, more or less.

What are your thoughts on Schwartz? I'm not sure if it was this guy or somebody else who said Schwartz was overrated and not that great a coach, but I was curious on your thoughts.

Titans kinda sorta looking like a competent NFL team tonight. CJ looks a little better, but Hasselbeck looks awful.

Not to take anything away from the Titans because they played a good game, but I don't think the Steelers are all that good this year.

Plus how many injuries did the Steelers have this game? Yikes. One lineman after another.

Jermichael Finley asked about his relationship with Aaron Rodgers:

“It’s OK,” Finley said earlier this week, via Paul Imig of FOXSportsWisconsin.com. “Not good enough at all. Something to be worked on, and try to work on it as much as I can, try to talk to him as much as I can, but like I said, it takes two people. . . . I need the quarterback on my side, and I need to catch the ball when he throws it to me. So it takes two things to get that going, the chemistry. I feel we need to get that going.”

In an apparent effort to build that chemistry with Rodgers, Finley clumsily threw a bouquet to Rogers on Wednesday, after Rodgers admitted he isn’t playing as well as last year. “I would say, first of all, that’s a leader taking the blame on himself,” Finley said. “That’s what you’re supposed to do as a player, like I would say it’s on me. So you’ve got to check yourself. I think that’s leadership.”

And that’s where Finley should have stopped.

“I think he’s playing good, but like I said, this is a team sport, and it’s going to take all 11 of us on the field when he’s on the field with us. I don’t put it all on him. It’s his receiving corps, we’re dropping balls; it’s his linemen not blocking for him. He’s got a lot to think about. I would be scared, too, if I was getting hit like that.”

So, yeah, Finley ultimately said the Rodgers isn’t playing as well in part because Rodgers is scared.
