While the White Sox piss away the AL Central, the Cubs making a statment vs. Rockies for 2nd Pick in the draft.

If we have a 1-2 punch like Germano-Berken on the mound next season, the 1st pick in the 2014 draft could be as good as ours.

Do not underestimate how bad the Astros will be again next year, in a tougher division.

The Astros will still be very, very bad next season. Also we will (assuming health/no trades) have Samardzija and Garza for most, if not all, of the year next year. So that's our 1-2 punch.

A loss today I think pretty much secures the #2 pick for us considering we own the tiebreaker with the Rockies for the #2 pick if we end with the same record.

Rizzo bomb and Castro walk!!

Rizzo also had a BB earlier and Jackson had a RBI single. Man, these guys know who to productively lose!

Jackson with a single and a walk. Maybe the time off was a turning point?

Is that supposed to be a waffle iron?

It looks like one of those sandwich things.

It is, in fact, a Cubs waffle iron.

Yep, with the tiebreaker, the Cubs would be 4 games up on Colorado with 6 games left to play, IF, they lose this game today. It's far from over. A 4 run deficit with 3 innings to play is nothing in Coors.

A Cubs fan asked Law in his chat today about the draft and positioning. Law said there would be a bigger dropoff from picking 4-6, than picking 2-4.

Cubs now an unfathomable 0-16 in NL West road games, being swept by all five teams this year.

Still three left with Arizona.

Right, but they've already been swept in Arizona once this year.

Yeah, just pointing out it could get even worse.

Swept by a 59-94 team. Have to be the low point of the season if people still cared.

Are you kidding, that was some clutch tanking right there. They needed those three and they got 'em.

They've already been swept by Houston this season. The low point was probably stepping onto the field opening day with the roster they had. Now they are at least going to get some benefit from the tank job.
