...and yet, Romo is better than Cutler.

Yeah, the guy's response was meatball-y, but I'd take Romo over Cutler, too.

Yeah I dont disagree with the premise that Romo is better. It was just a really dumb response.

Maybe a couple of years ago, but I'm really souring on Cutler. Not in the sense of "oh man, he's a bum," but I think he's been derailed by being on such a poorly run/coached team. I guess I'm "souring" in the sense that this really feels like it's going to just end up being a wasted opportunity.

I feel like Cutler has a better chance of being awesome than Romo. Romo is consistent, and safe. Cutler is high risk, high reward.

I don't get that impression of Tony Romo at all. In any of those senses.

I don't believe I've ever heard Romo described as consistent or safe.

Ok, I just meant in comparison to Cutler.

Romo doesn't throw many int's at this point. Had a 31/10 TD/INT ratio last year. Jay's best is 7 more TD's than picks. Tony's been above that 4 times in his career. Tony used to throw a lot of picks, but since '09 he's really stopped doing that. Jay did great in that department last year, but he also threw much less than previously, and now almost has his INT total from last year already.

Jay's career high comp% is 63.6. Tony has only failed to reach that number twice.

Asked by Pompei if it was possible to target WR Brandon Marshall too much, Cutler said, "No."

Asked if Marshall is getting a lot of defensive attention, Cutler responded, "What kind of attention."

Told "extra coverage," Cutler said, "what coverage?"

Pompei changed tactics and asked if it was better to throw to someone else if Marshall is getting extra coverage.

"I need to know the specifics," Cutler said. "Like, what are you getting (in coverage)? I don't know. It depends what coverage it is. It depends on a lot of things. There's a lot of variables. You can't just make a vague statement...It depends what route it is, what coverage it is, what's the down and distance? There's a lot of things that go into it."

Asked if it was simply worthwhile to risk forcing the ball into coverage sometimes, Cutler said, "Like I said, it depends on the situation."

Pompei then said, "Thanks for your enlightenment."

And Cutler?

"Thank you," he said. "Thank you for your vague question. I'm sure you'll be able to get a lot out of that."

well done Cutler.

Pompei likes to market himself as some sort of expert about the game, but that is a very pointless question. He's basically just trying to get Cutler to say something meaningless so he can spend the next week on CTL critiquing the answer. The details do matter. Extra coverage tells you nothing.

Yep. Pompei and Haugh are both guys that I used to really feel like I got good info from, and either they got really bad, or, more likely, they were just always really bad and I was dumb enough to buy what they were spewing.

Put Cutler on Dallas and Romo on Chicago and what happens?

Nothing. They're kind of the same player.

You dont' think Dallas has better receivers? Better O-Line?

In the past? Or now? Cuz the Dallas O-line is as bad or worse than the Bears this year.

By that I meant that I think Cutler would put up similar numbers to Romo the last few years. And Romo would have similar numbers to Cutler the last few years. Basically, I don't think if you switched QBs between Chicago and Dallas that either team would be any better or worse off than they are now. Romo's numbers of the last 4 years have been much better because he's had better people to throw to, better people to block for him, and better people calling plays than Cutler.
