Okay, so we throw a non-Baez collection of whatevers to the Mets for David Wright because they are dumb like that. We give him a 6/120 extension that tears up this year (for simplicity's sake, I won't try to backload or frontload any of these deals).

Those non-Baez whatevers better include Soler, Almora, and Maples.

Soler & Almora can't realistically be part of the deal due to not signing until mid-summer.

And I'm not sure Maples would bring much at this point.

Agreed. A guy that hasn't pitched past rookie ball and will be 21 for the majority of next year. If someone would actually give up something for him I'd be floored.

Exactly. Beyond that and Castro or Rizzo, we'd have no chance at competing in a trade market for David Wright if he were available.

I disagree completely. He has a voidable option if he's traded. You're basically trading for the right to negotiate a longterm deal with him. We easily have the pieces to get him, if thats what we(and he) wants.

I've listened to people for more than twenty years who told me that Cubs fans over rate their prospects. It wasn't until the internet that I actually saw it.

Add one solid pitcher. If a deal too good to be true materializes, do it. Tread water in 13.

You have to write off 13 to give the system one year of growth. Excuse my language but no one cares about Arizona and Idaho. No one is going to trade value for anything that happened in Arizona or Idaho.

New plan. don't even bother, because, you know, Cardinals.

Next year they'll have Miller, Tavares, and some no name they'll acquire as a PTBNL for Skip Schumaker in the fall that will go on to OPS 1.250. To hell with hiring all of these Assistant-Assistant GMs. We need to capture the demon that's been powering the Cardinals all these years.

They've never made the playoffs in a year we did. We are the only ones who can stop them.

And if we ever are going to win it all you know we are going to have to go through them in the playoffs.

WSR ignorantly talking out of his ass? Inconceivable.

This ass talking ignoramus is dying to hear your David Wright package which doesn't include any of our core prospects, keeping in mind that if he were available, even under the conditions mentioned by Davell, plenty of teams closer to contention would have the same idea.

This just went across Rotoworld:

Athletics acquired OF Chris Young from the Diamondbacks for INFs Cliff Pennington and Yordy Cabrera.

Eh, if that's all it took we could have probably gotten him for like 1 of Valbuena/Watkins/Lake/Cardenas and 1 of Cabrera/Castillo/Dolis. I would have done that

Posted
Sure is. I'd have to assume Oakland is paying all his salary, because that is a crappy return.

Arizona is sending money in the deal.

Posted
That sucks. Young was a great value. Could have probably been had for Alcantara or Hernandez, straight up. Getting Pennington, it could take Arizona out of going after Barney too. I had my hopes up on getting Corbin from them. Coco Crisp becomes a CF candidate now for us, although with DeJesus, we need power somewhere.

Toronto is looking to trade Escobar, would he be worth shedding a mid level prospect for? I understand he is a first class dbag but could be a 3B or 2B option. He is capable of bouncing back and putting up a .290/.360/.400 up.
