The Peoria Journal Star reported Baez' 2-run homer cleared the grass berm beyond left field and landed on a concreate patio.

"I was sitting on slider and he threw me one," Baez told the paper.

However, the Journal Star also reported that Baez paused while crossing home plate and had to be "chased back to the dugout by home-plate umpire James Rackley."

"I was just saying hello to their catcher," Baez was quoted as saying.

With Monday's big league pitcher TBD, they should probably consider skipping Raley. We really don't need another look at Volstad (who pitched yesterday, anyway) or Coleman. Raley may not be particularly exciting, but he seems to be the only somewhat big league ready arm we have that has any chance to be of use in the future.

Raging douche alert. Love it. As long as other teams don't kill him.

He's making sure he keeps his OBP high enough. Right now he's at 10 HBP and 8 BB.

Time to start using the body armor, hehe......

On a side note, I'm kind of coming around on promoting him. Just not sure he's getting challenged in Peoria. Lake could play 3B at Tennessee, and once Alcantara comes back, I'd go ahead move him up, I think. It'd definitely be a challenge for Alcantara, but I think Baez is certainly the more important of the two and is ready to be in Daytona. Again, it's just a couple of months, so it's not something that HAS to be done, but Javy's ready, from everything we're seeing.

I think he'll really only start becoming more selective at the plate when he has to. that won't happen until he starts seeing better quality pitching. He can get away with swinging at everything now but the sooner he learns he can't do that against better pitching the better.

Just saw the D-Cubs lineup for tonight...I guess it hadnt hit me yet just how boring and unimportant all their positions players are, besides Torreyes. yuck.

are you knocking the all-powerful Timothy Saunders?

Torreyes is going to be a severely underrated prospect going into next season.

Vitters' walk rate is up to 6.7%, and still there will be people insisting he hasn't shown any improvement in plate discipline since his 3% days in the low minors.

Baez has a quiet 15 errors in 51 games.

Justin Bour hit a grand slam. WTF? Not that RBI's are any sort of indicator and he's basically a non prospect, but he has 83?

8 K and 4 BB through 6 for Raley. Sometime next week, at least 1 big league rotation spot will open up. Unless we get back a big league starter, I can think of a better option to get it. Hell, I can't think of another option that wouldn't be wasting the opportunity.
