Pittsburgh Pirates ‏@Pirates

The @Pirates have acquired LHP Wandy Rodriguez & cash from the #Astros for Rudy Owens, Colton Cain & Robbie Grossman.

EDIT: No Hanson

Owens and Grossman is a solid return. Kind of wonder if that was on the table for Maholm. If so, I'd have been very happy with it as a return.

Doubt it. If so, yes that would have been a great return. Astros won the trade, but the Pirates kinda "had" to do it. Their fan base would have been fine with giving up anyone not in their top 4 prospects for anyone that improved the team. But if they get a big bat, they're going to have to give up 1 I'd imagine....though probably not Cole or Taillon. Marte's probably gone though if they get a real upgrade offensively.

No way Neal Huntington would have paid up to trade for guy he let walk just this past offseason. But hopefully that return for Wandy Rodriguez will raise the price for Maholm.

Hansen was pulled from game today for lack of hustle, hence why his name came up.

We gave up a good bit for Wandy, but we're also getting cash.

Cain is no loss. Ownes will be a solid starter (Probably a #3), and Grossman is potential star. But, when I think of all of the potential stars we acquired over the past couple of years, I'm not going to lose sleep over losing Grossman.

It seems like a good trade on both sides. Pretty fair value and benefits both teams. Good luck Jake. I'd prefer Pittsburgh to win instead of the Cards and the Cincinnati Votto's any day.

grossman seems like a guy with a really good eye but not enough power to punish mistakes. i could see him turning into matt murton jr. definitely don't see him as a potential star.

Completely premature, but the Cubs' trading deadline is turning into Halloween for everyone else.

It sure is starting to look like the Cubs will go from projected deadline winners to losers.

ESPN's Jim Bowden reports that the Phillies are trying to trade Shane Victorino for bullpen help.

Paul Daugherty of the Cincinnati Enquirer reported Wednesday afternoon that the Reds turned down an offer of Victorino for setup man Logan Ondrusek. Which is an indication that the Reds are content with their current roster and that the Phillies aren't asking a whole lot for their 31-year-old center fielder. The Dodgers are known to have some interest in the Flyin' Hawaiian.

@JonHeymanCBS: #orioles looking at colon, liriano & hitters who can get on base. http://t.co/ckjhA3KS

Not sure what we have in the "hitters that can get on base department," though anything from Johnson/Baker to Soriano or DeJesus could appeal to them. More importantly, surely Maholm would be an upgrade over Colon or Liriano.

dejesus would seem like the only everyday option, if they wanted spot help, pinch hitting then johnson and baker could add a bat.

maybe LaHair?

second base hasn't been great but barney is only a slight upgrade at 2nd over andino. left field and first base seem to be their spots

is it bad that i would rather help teams like the orioles and the braves?

Also it seems a possiblity that the trading of rameriz, opens up the trade of johnson to the rangers for olt?

the trade may take more, or it may come down to how much heat the marlins take for their salary drops so far.

A johnson trade certainly leaves no doubt the marlins are completely starting over.

Ramirez. I know it's a drop in the bucket as far as correcting your posts, but come on man.

Seriously you don't know who that is because of an "e".

Add something to the thread or don't respond. I really don't feel the need to check spelling when the name can be spelled either way AND it doesn't change the meaning of the post NOR does it "hide" who is being talked about in the post. Now if we were dealing with a Rameriz and also a Ramirez and a Ramirez it would matter.
